Stuck in werewolf form
I took a long break from skyrim. Maybe I just don't remember how it works... But I can't get out of werewolf mode anymore once I activated it. I tried every button there is and I tried waiting for days. It just won't stop anymore.

Last time I played (over a year ago) I know I first became a werewolf, then switched to vampire lord and finally back to werewolf. Could this be causing any problems?

I'm playing in VR, but I don't think it's a VR related issue (and getting a reply on the VR forum is impossible, I tried...). Last time I played, everything was fine.

Never heard of the form not ending. Do you use mods? If you do I recommended getting "Growl" it greatly improves werewolf form in addition to letting you end it early. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/31245

I've only been using this mod all the time: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/15035

So... normally you only revert back after some time? How long? It's been so long, I honestly don't remember... But I already tried waiting for several days. I guess that should have done the trick.
Gonna take a look at that mod, thanks.

That mod you're using changes the time script to 2000 hours, you are supposed to be able to go back by using the power again.

If you're just using it to loot, Growl does that as well. Growl lets you change back when you want but also run out at the normal rate.
Yeah, I just wanted to be able to loot while in werewolf form. It had been too long to remember all the fineprint. Thanks for telling me.
Anyway, I'm just gonna try that other mod now.

Ya if you want to loot then Growl allows that as well. Growl is a overhaul of werewolf so it does change some things, it modify the perks tree and adds scaling.

If you have played to high level with Werewolf before you might have noticed it getting weaker as time went on, that's because the damage and defense of werewolf doesn't scale well. This mod makes werewolf viable at all levels, and some perks even affect you in human form.

I think you need SkyUI, at least for the MCM you do, and I would recommend that, by default Growl treats Lycanthropy like the curse that it is, meaning you have a chance to force transform (dependent on the moon phase) unless you have the Ring of Hircine. However, that can be disabled in the MCM.
Now I get a CTD whenever I leave werewolf form, both with the Growl mod and with no werewolf-mods at all.

I can only assume that it's because of the "race compatibility patch" that seems to also contain a script for PlayerChangeWerewolf (or something like that).

However, I didn't have such issues the last time I played and I played with both the "race compatibility patch" and the "werewolves can activate" mods then, too.

So, I'm just gonna try to finish the last daedric artifact quest for Hircine to get that damned achievement (going for 100%...) and then reload the game and never go werewolf again, I guess.

the werewolf "stance" is dependent on a timer and it is updated each time you've fed. It can go very high if you have made a lot victims.

However, it is not possible to have vampirism and being a werewolf together in a "natural" means. so you might have done something not logical to achieve it.

It is possible that the responsible script is borked (different values) or not even running anymore, despite you're in that form.

Either force yourself to be werewolf again or force your race back to default. I am not sure which one would fix your issue. Have a save clear in prior to experiment it
# experiment 1 - be werewolf step 1: be somewhere where you can transform (empty cave / dungeon) step 2: enter "player.equipspell 92C48" in console step 3: use your shout button step 4: wait for timer. It should solve within two hours ingame time expected: be reverted # experiment 2 - force race (you may lose some perks, not sure enter "player.setrace X" where X is your race (such as "breton") expected: be in that race. Use racemenu to correct up your appearance. You should be able to use the werewolf power
