Stealth updates that break mods?
I'm aware by now, as most of us probably are by this point, that the game's base version was updated recently, and now those of us who rely on mods to extend the experience must wait for SKSE and the rest of the modding community to catch up. And that's all well and good, much kudos to our tireless modding teams who have extended the life of this product WAAAAY beyond it's useful / entertaining shelf life. Huzzah!

----However----

Why does Bethesda do this? In particular, with no publicly visible change log to justify the update without plumbing the depths of the internet to find one? (which I have neither the time, nor inclination to undertake.)

Should I put down the tinfoil hat and suspend my suspicions that Starfield going on sale is merely coincident with this update going live within mere hours of each other, and rest assured that this is not a surreptitious method of enticing holdouts like me to take the bait?

To be fair, they did let people know weeks in advance that an update was going to happen -- just not on Steam.
I take your point. However, I also reserve the earlier point that this was, effectively, a stealth update without any obvious justification in the form of change logs for those of us who don't (or ever) frequent their official forums, Discords, or other social media platforms.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
