A lot of .dll mods (not all of them) already updated, and you can DL a .dll mod that uses a bandaid fix for the ESL record change issue.
Go to the Nexus and search "Backported Extended ESL Support" and read the description for clarity, explains a lot to do with 1130 ESL mod changes. Its useful if you use a older version of the game and create new ESL mods on the latest creation kit version.
I recognize that is one of the core mods out there.
♥♥♥♥ you Bethesda!
The most basic answer is, it's a file type. One that contains scripts.

I know it's easy to blame BETHESDA for all the problems and updates BUT what everyone keeps forgetting is that BETHESDA and it's parent company were bought out by MICROSOFT GAME STUDIOS two years ago for almost 8 BILLION dollars! That means the programmers & designers at BETHESDA can't even take a dump without the approval of Phil Spencer (the CEO of MGS). So you want to blame someone for the new updates, blame Microsoft!!
It's Bethesda's game. Mods are called mods for a reason.
It plays perfectly fine. Your MODS are unplayable.
SKSE offers the so-called Address Library, which contains some meta information about the game's executable and can help to work around the problem. But it is not perfect and can fail, i.e. when the changes to the game's executable made by an update are too great. I.e. when functions disappear or code gets merged.
Anyhow, the Community Shaders mod also does not work with the new update. It is a DLL mod, which hooks into the game and allows for the game's shaders to be replaced. Several other mods, which require the Community Shaders are therefore also broken (new lighting shaders, HDR fixes, auto parallax, etc.).
No... noone wanted this update. This game is alive only thanks to the mods.
