The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition

Statistiche:
Freeze, suspected memory leak
Hi there,
I am playing Skyrim with around 100 mods, most of which are overhauls.
I am experiencing freezes, which usually occur when memory and swap are filled. I suspect a memory leak.
The freezes occur randomly, but there is also one that I can reproduce when fighting against the main story's dragon at Whiterun.

I am looking for a systematic approach to find the reason, which I suspect is a mod. It is somewhat a little bit cumbersome to install tools that are Windows-based, so I'd prefer to keep it simple.
Additionally, I have issues with FPS drops although I am meeting the hardware requirements.

The operating system is Linux.

Also, I just discovered Skyrim Project Optimization, which I believe will help stabilizing my game.

Hmmm but I do want to play as the dragonborn, to my understanding, choosing any other option as the vanilla start would kind of break that story, right?
But yeah, once I finished the main story, I might consider other starts, especially when I want to play through other mods that add whole new maps.

Regardless of your start, you can end up as the dragonborn. Doing any number of things triggers the quest: visiting Helgen, talking to Balgruuf, finding the stone in Bleakfalls.
Oh, nice, thanks!

I am somewhat scared of dropping mods mid-play ...do I need to start fresh?
Except for pure graphics mods (textures and meshes), and those having only vanilla spawns, you must either go back to a save made before the removed mods were installed, or start a new game - there are NO other options. See:

You CANNOT Remove Mods Mid-Playthrough

Also, it would be a good idea to do a clean reinstall if starting a new game. To do a clean reinstall, just validating the files or uninstalling and reinstalling the game is not enough - files can get left over and they will continue to effect your game. Follow this guide EXACTLY and do everything it says to the letter:

And DO NOT clean or edit the Master files or any Creation Club content.

You may want to lower the shadow quality (not more than High) and grass density (about 50).

In grass density, the higher the number, the less dense the grass is - so you may want to go even higher than 50 - possibly much higher. I use a setting of 60, and it is still nice and thick, but you can even go as high as 100 if you want it to be even more performance friendly.

You would want to adjust the iMinGrassSize setting under Grass in the Skyrim.ini located in Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition folder.

I've found that settings beyond 50 look kind of "patchy". Well, stuff like that should be tested out. Maybe the grass won't have too much of a perfomance effect.

Good advice as to the testing - different settings may appear differently for people depending upon the mods they are using - or if they are not using mods.
