Power Leveling Musings
Is Power Leveling really that bad? I am an early millenial. I grew up on 80s movies. So now I must bring up the montage. Ya know? That point in the story where the protagonist gets his ass kicked then trains hard and there is a rocking soundtrack in the background. Think Rocky Balboa or Daniel San. That is not an exploit, in my opinion. That is a feature. So, put on some Foreigner, bang out those iron daggers, and enjoy a quintessential part of getting stronger. I watched Van Damne kick the hell out of a bamboo repeatedly.

In general there's nothing wrong with it that said in the way Skyrim works it will get boring unless you quell that boredom with mods. Also keep in mind that you have power level evenly ...... I mean if you put everything in alchemy or lockpicking and put nothing in armor or in offence (weapons, magic) you will have a hard time, because how levelling works in Skyrim

Iron daggers is are awful way to level smithing.

It depends on the skills, because Bethesda uses scaling for their games, if you level skills not important to combat you'll get trashed by the enemies who are now higher level while you're still rocking your level 4 sword skills. Combat Skills first, everything else after.

It's fine, the above warnings notwithstanding, if that's how you like playing. I prefer long runs and do most everything, more a marathon than a sprint and tend to level many skills at once, slightly focusing on a combat skill or two but working on about a half dozen others. Some players prefer a more focused run so they might want to sprint more.

it depends.. Power levelling often leaves you at disadvantages elsewhere, and if you tried to do this in Skyrim with non combat skills, you'd be left well out of the loop quite quickly and find even the easier enemies hard....
Smithing and Enchanting are good ways to increase your damage, but they're not going to save you at 15 in One handed/Two handed or Archery when your level 40...

Iron daggers are also terrible to level up. That method was "fixed" years ago

Don't even think about trying it in Oblivion LOL

My favorite way of power leveling for extra perks is to Telekinesis a piece of stale bread while holding Detect Life in middle of a crowded town and pray that my finger won't accidentally slip off and said piece of bread doesn't give someone skull fracture or impale some farm animal into the wall.

I'll be honest with you that actually makes game more interesting in my opinion.
Also on plus side Dungeons loot is also higher tier early.

And circumvents the stupid design choice of encounter zones (dungeons and other areas with enemies / loot) locking to current player level and never changing even if revisited on much higher Player level after a cell reset. (Tho there is a mod that "fixes" this - i wish there was one for Fallout 4 too cause that ♥♥♥♥ is still there in that game too)

I would never powerlevel just to increase my character level (since enemies will level up too). I try to get the following skills as soon as possible though: 100 Enchanting, 100 Smithing, 80+ Alchemy (fortify smithing potions), 60 Destruction (better weapon enchantments), 50 Light Armor, and as much One-handed, Archery, and Block as possible.

In some ways, yeah i can see that... BUT at the same time, it makes all the earlier gear, like Dwarven or Elven obsolete because why use that over Ebony you get from some random draugr?

Yup, i mod it out of Skyrim and Fallout, and on that note there is a mod for Fallout 4 that does this;

Oh nice! Before i could not find anything like Skyrim's encounter zones uncapped for Fallout 4. So i just raised the minimum encounter zone level myself in Fo4Edit :< made the early game brutal but late game more interesting.

Thanks for the link!

If you want to experience the benefits of power leveling your character, an Unleveler mod might be handy to have installed.
