This part in particular I can relate to a lot.
It's not just religious people who dislike these sorts of things morally, and I really hate when my personal morals are implied to come from some stupid religious brainwashing and not from my own sense of right and wrong... it's insulting and annoying.
You don't have to be religious to find degeneracy repulsive or immoral, you're absolutely right about that.
There are plenty of decent, moral people out there who are not even remotely religious.
Both Steam and Nexus default to porn content being turned off. You have to opt-in. You have to actively choose to see it. =)
As for steam category, i don't really have an excuse. I'm just watching the argument until I saw such a bad argument I had to opt-in
Sure, but if you enable adult content, you are the one who enabled adult content. The fact remains that you only see it if you actively choose to do so. Intentionally. People really need to take a LITTLE bit of responsibility for their own choices, don't you think?
Complaining about seeing adult content when you had to enable seeing adult content is...well, I don't think I'm allowed to finish that sentence on the forums.
"Sorta NSFW" isn't a thing that exists. "But I wanted something marked NSFW, not to see other things marked NSFW"....
The way to keep your kids (or yourself) away from that content is to turn it off, and it comes off by default. This is a self-inflicted problem.
Yes, you might miss out on something, but that's a trade off we make in life -- you get to not see it, or you can see it. For bonus points, you can turn it on long enough to get the single thing you want, then *turn it back off* and not have to see it any more. This is what I do to get the racy but not porn-y mods; I grab them when I'm not at risk of somebody peeking over my shoulder and seeing awful things because yay top of the list today.
Quit hitting yourself.
This outrage is like going to the hub for video NSFW content and then being shocked that they have group and rear end stuff, you only wanted to see tasteful vanilla scenes. Talk about a bad argument.
And they don't, unless they choose to turn it on.
No, it's like choosing to go to the adult section at the video store and then being shocked when it's mostly porn with very little just-nudity. Volume aside, the *type* of content between games when you turn on adult content is the same. It's not like FO4 adult mods are just tasteful nudity, either.
Adult content is adult content across games, and you have to choose to see it. You only see it if you go looking for it.
Now. Volume wise, there are a LOT of skyrim mods. If you include adult files, there are 49,184 English mods. If you turn adult mods off, there are 40,884. I'm not going to do the math for other languages, but taking a quick glance the percentages look like they're roughly in the same ballpark. That's really not the volume that's being implied.
Is less than 10K adult mods an enormous bulk of the mods? No...especially when you consider how much of that is skimpy armor that still technically covers everything.
Less than 1/5th seems...less than absolutely insane, to me. More like just Tuesday. Maybe that's because I'm old and know how humans are, though. Rule 34 is not just a meme, lol. I genuinely expected the numbers to show that porn was about half, given the puritan flailing going on. A fifth? Blah. Have you ever been to a fanfiction site that hosts both adult and not? The adult files typically outnumber the rest of it by a WIDE margin (and not the tasteful ones either). Mods are basically fanfiction of another stripe.
The reason for the very recent surge in numbers of adult files ratio wise in the new stuff is because a new animation platform came out, so everybody updated their stuff. It's not a consistent phenomena, it'll go back to normal soon enough.
My meaning is, several of the top armor creators in Skyrim, skimpy armors especially, are female. The games that have the best adult content in gaming all pull from a wide audience of talented modders. The other two games with high quality adult modded content that come to mind are the Sims series and Second Life. Both have a larger than normal female audience and thusly drawn from their talented modder pool to create content.
This is why the comments about "incels in their basements" strike me as odd. For a game to achieve this level of quality content, it takes a large and diverse community of modders.
Skyrim's got 50k mods on Nexus and beyond because it's appeal is so vast.
