Do I need so what's the story behind MCO vs Open Animation Replacer?
I don't have the full picture, is MCO basically obsolete? Is there still a reason to use MCO?

Or can I still just install Open Animation Replace and install all my animation mods and have them work fine.

correct me if i am wrong but Attack - MCO/DXP is for attack animation mods that use it / requires it. Open animation replacer is a better version of DAR / for animations to work..

I'm about to reinstall skyrim after watching a bunch of videos.
I read somewhere on the nexus that people have uninstalled MCO and have moved to OAR.

I'm just wondering, can I just use OAR and have my animation changes still work? Or does MCO have a reason to still exist?

IDK, I'm about to test this right now, but I was just wondering if anyone else is familiar with this.

MCO and OAR are fine to use together. Maybe you mean people are moving from DAR.

MCO and OAR are completely different things.

MCO is a better SkySA.

OAR is a better DAR - it's also backwards compatible with DAR mods. So if a mod says it needs DAR, just use OAR instead.

Some DAR animations have had few issues with OAR. However, last time I checked, about all of them had already gotten direct OAR version, or replacement.

If you have plenty of DAR animations, then check possible OAR version of them. As said above, OAR is indeed backward compatible with DAR, but some DAR animations have been janky, or otherwise lacking smoothness with OAR.
Thank the help everyone. I'm just now catching up with everything because i haven't played skyrim in about a year, I might of just derped out. I wasn't sure if the two were incompatible or something along the lines.

Yeah, they work together fine and they don't do anything bad to each other because they both do different things. Happy modding!
