My brother has Skyrim together Reborn Installed on this computer.
He owns the game on his Steam. We use family sharing and he says if I play the game on my Steam, It would break his game. Is it true?

Same PC or Not? I assume it isn't, which that being the case then no, nothing you do will affect him in any way whatsoever.

Same PC

Then I suggest using the profile feature of your mod manager, you can set up two different profiles that you can switch between at will, you can load only the mods you want and he can load the ones he wants, just make sure you don't load up his saves while playing.

I just want to play the vanilla game, not modded. He told me that if I directly launch the game from Steam, it would break his mods. I just wanted to know if that was correct.

As long as you don't attempt to load his game there shouldn't be any problems. The only reason launching it from Steam would be an issue is if your copy isn't updated to the latest version. Still you Ccn set up a blank profile in your mod manager, just don't load any mods.

You could also get your bro to make some copies and back up his saves.

Might not be true if he is running with a version lower than current game version. I dont know how steam handles multiple logins with same game install modded.

Like vanilla if you have different logins you could use same game but would have different ingame settings, saves etc.

If mods are installed enb would be there no matter if its installed. If he has weather mod for that ENB it could look broken for you if you dont have that weather mod loaded.

Then if he is using a modern mod manager (Vortex Mod Organizer 2) like most people the weather mod and other such mods wouldnt load without opening skyrim through the mod manager and its profile. If he knows his setup and how to manage skyrim installs and mods you should ask him what to do.

Like there are solutions no matter the setup or situation i dont think we can properly answer you just playing has low risk of creating issues for him if you dont mod.

If he has no mods or very basic stuff and is using current game version there is no risk of anything going wrong as long as you dont overwrite saves or use a different PC user login.

If you guys have space i believe you could always just make a copy of the install and just set a shortcut to duplicates exe then if ENB is installed you could just delete the d3d11 .ll file in the duplicates install. (If it has ENB) then your game would be 100% vanilla as long as he used a modern mod manager for modding. (Presumably)

Only other modded files that can occasionally end up in the game folder are in Skyrim Special Edition\Data

Textures folder
Meshes folder

Those only exist if they had modded files so if you copy game to setup a vanilla install you would delete those if they exist.

Then if he used Nexus mod manager which is antiquated it installs all mods into the games actual folder so there would be many other files potentially as well.

Others might be able to point to a program that removes all mods but I have never used such a thing. Like goes back to core point he knows his setup presumably and could answer better.

If he really just uses just Skyrim Together and SKSE there should be no issues no matter what so I wouldnt know what he is talking about. (Unless he renamed folder and told steam to uninstall skyrim to prevent updates.) If its just that you could just use his install just have to not launch it directly from steam. Might have to use SKSE's exe/shortcut.

If situation is that you just need to use skse64_loader to load the the game im pretty sure. Even if you 'broke it' it shouldnt be that hard for him to fix
