To quick save using controllers you will have to install "gamepad plus plus" mod.
After mods, I can bind it to anything I like. For example, RB+Back.
Without mods, use Steam's Controller Layout.
With mods, you can take a controlmap.txt from Gamepad++[www.nexusmods.com] and modify it to your liking. Controlmap must be placed in: Skyrim Special Edition\Data\Interface\controls\pc\
Also install Auto Input Switch[www.nexusmods.com] to enable both PC and gamepad controls.
SSE Engine Fixes allows you to set it so F5 creates a normal save. Sounds like that might be what you are doing which is a great feature imo.
Heh - in generally I very much agree with this sentiment. I grew up playing RPGs on computers using the keyboard in the 1980s, and thought the console ports of those games sucked, largely because of the controller limitations the game had to be shoe horned into.
Skyrim is the only RPG game I've seriously played on a console, because a friend had it (10 years ago), and for whatever reason I just really liked how it played with the controller so I'm trying to have that same kind of experience on the PC to the degree that I can.
Thanks for your reply!
There is IIRC but as was said earlier you are better off not using QuickSaves. I myself use a Xbox controller and I never use QuickSaves so I really couldn't tell you which button it is. Matter of Fact I use a mod that completely removes the Quicksave button .

Thanks for your reply! I am curious as several people mentioned it - what is the downside of quick saves? For a mod to remove the quicksave button it sounds like something significant is going on but it is not obvious to me.
My approach to it is make a regular save periodically, like when I enter a new quest area, then I make incremental saves via quicksave (because it's fast) for a while and then occasionally make a another regular save. This way my worst case fall back point (the regular save) isn't all that far back, but I've also got the quick save for bit close restore point.
Thanks for your help.
