noobie question about building/purchasing houses
Hello, i am pretty new in this game, i know just basics, maybe a little bit more. My question is, will i be able to get stuff for smithing, potion making, enchanting tables, workbenches and stuff like that for crafting if i buy or build a homes? I am on my new save, before i had bought homes in whiterun - breezehome, i was only able to buy alchemy table to make potions, but no other stuff. Maybe is it better to build homes by yourself? Will i have option to acquire everything i need in future? How do i know which house have which upgrades? I am playing on survival, so storing my items is really needed. I just want to have everything. Thank you! :steammocking:

The Hearthfire buildable homes all have the option to add those crafting stations to them.

You need to get the Hearthfire DLC. You cannot build a home from scratch with out it.

Thank you for your answers! I do have the DLC. So its better to build homes instead of purchasing houses? Am i right? And another question, do every building locations have everything availible to build? Unlike buying houses

Every home in Heartfire DLC has everything available.

Depends, you can do both, I do. The buildable hearthfire homes have all the options for Smithing available, (not all vanilla player homes do).

As far as the materials needed to build those 3 homes you'll need to acquire them, either from the world or from vendors. There will be a chest next to the workbench that contains some starter materials but you'll need more.

Hearthfire DLC comes with the base game so everyone has it.
Get a house where you feel being home, buying or building it.
To get the homy feeling.
Otherwise you'll quickly become a tired multi-owner who won't live in any.

Another thing to add is building a Hearthfire home will increase your smithing skill as well. It is not a small amount of experience as it can be quite significant.
Aside from the Hearthfire houses, you can console in some of the crafting stations by using placeatme and good use of getpos/angle and setpos/angle to tailor the vanilla houses to do it all, too.

While I can appreciate the utility of having a house (and sometimes with amazing views), they're usually too far from merchants, so having a house in town with all the crafting stations is much more preferable. Some of the CC clubs houses also add stuff like a small smelter (looks like a cooking pot), which is perfect for single cell all purpose homes.

Vindrel Hall in Markath and Proudspire Manor in Solitude let you add both an alchemy lab and enchantment table. So does Hjerim in WIndhelm, although you can't buy it until after the Civil War. Honeyside in Riften lets you add both, too.
You can earn a home in Solstheim too, it has both tables and a forge.
