Question about the book "An Explorer's Guide to Skyrim"
Will the "map updated" notifications stop eventually?
My concern is that it will keep saying map updated, even though there are no new locations being added.

yes, but by that point you will have done virtually every quest.

Well I have not even gone to Riverwood after Helgen yet, I am level 104, and leader of all 3 guilds. I have probably over 150+ locations revealed, and i still get new locations with each read of AEGtS. Thanks for the info tho, I was worried I was wasting my time opening it / carrying it with me.

By reading "An Explorer's Guide to Skyrim" book, 4 undiscovered (grayish) markers are added to your map:

-The Guardian Stones
-The Lover Stone
-The Ritual Stone
-The Shadow Stone

If you already have these map markers, you may still receive the notification "map updated", but no new markers will be added.

Ah see, thats what I thought was happening, but skyrim has so many locations it was impossible for me to tell, well without comparing before and after screen shots like 'whats diff about the images'

Thanks for the info. I will stop wasting time with this book.
