How Can I Fix My Growables?
So, I'm using a long list of mods for growing plants for cooking and alchemy but I'm having some weird issues. I have oranges, bananas, pumpkins, turnips, mushrooms and all kinds of stuff. I also have every required patch for what I'm using.

The problem is that when I plant some items they grow into a completely different plant. For example, when I plant red apples they grow into onions. I was looking into how to fix this myself so I tried to use xEdit to combine all the plantables into one mod. I must've done it wrong because it didn't help. Does anyone know how to do this that can share the steps with me or provide a link to where I can find this info?

That... is an interesting issue.

Have you tried creating Bashed Patch with Wrye Bash? It might fix this issue, depending how these mods were made.

Sounds like a script related issue.

This is because the Form ID Lists are not ordered properly - specifically the following in the mod's (or Patch's) FormID List Category, as can be seen by using xEdit:

flPlanterPlantedFlora
flPlanterPlantableItem

This is how the two lists appear in xEdit:
flPlanterPlantedFlora

flPlanterPlantableItem
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2973949674
The order in which items appear in the two lists must be exactly the same. You can move an item in the lists in the Right Hand pane up or down by right clicking on their line, and selecting Move up or Move down from the drop down box. This may need to be done multiple times to get the individual items to properly line up.

Different mods - especially mods that add new items, are likely to have a different order to the individual items in the FormID list. The best way to resolve this is to look for a patch on Nexus that resolves the conflict between the mods, but if one is not available, that it would be up to you to create a patch using the Copy To Overide xEdit function, as explained below:

To do this, Copy To Override
1. Left click on the + next to the mod you wist to edit, this expands the mod and lists its components.
2. Left click on the + next to the category (e.g. - FormID List); this will expand the section and list all the items.
3. Left click and select all the items you wish to change (in this case the following 2:
flPlanterPlantedFlora and flPlanterPlantableItem) - either by outlining and holding down the left mouse button, or selecting individually while holding down the Control key (for none adjacent records)
4. Right click on any one of the now highlighted records
5. From the drop down menu, left click on Copy as override into...
6. If you get a popup warning, click Yes, I am absolutely sure
7. In the large box that appears, that ask "Which file do you want to add this/these record(s) to? Check the box <new file>.esp (this is the usual, so we will keep it simple)
8. The box that pops up now, will ask you to name the new file - give it something that works for you - e.g. Lower weights, and then click okay
9. Now check at the bottom of the mod list in the LH pane. Your new .esp will be listed there

Do this for each mod that has the two types of FormID lists mentioned in my above post. By doing this, all the items should be probably aligned in the new patch (should - but you will need to check and verify and manually move any items that are not properly aligned).

Of course, it may just be simpler to find which mod is overwriting things and causing the issue and just drop that mod if there is not already a patch for it on Nexus.

Also, as Ilja mentioned, creating a Bashed Patch using Wrye Bash might resolve the issue - so that is worth a try before attempting anything more involved if there is no patch available on Nexus.

I see that you did say you attempted to patch it using xEdit, so at least you seem to have some familiarity with using that. Using the above information, I'm sure that you will be able to get things sorted out - just take your time and be patient.

I have subscribed to the thread so will see anything posted here as soon as I get online.

Good luck!

Thanks, everyone. I really appreciate the guidance. I do use Wrye Bash but that hasn't fixed it. I'm going to try these steps with xEdit again. Thanks a lot for the help!

Yeah, I use Wrye Bash but it didn't help. Someone posted so helpful information on how to use xEdit to correct it so I'm going to try that. Thanks for the reply!

Yeah. SMR did. I was thinking that this could be issue with unmerged keywords and WB could sort it out.

But it is not wonder tool. If Bashed Patch doesn't manage to sort this out, then it is indeed up to do some manual work.

I just completed building this .esp. Should it go before or after my Bashed Patch? I put it right on top of it and rebuild the patch with WB.

Nothing should overwrite the the corrected FormID Lists in the new patch - so, as long as nothing is doing so, provided it is placed after the mods it is patching, the actual location in the load order is irrelevant (though as a general rule, patches should be placed lower in the order). Usually the Bashed Patch is at the bottom - but you don't want it overwriting things that it should not (xEdit is a good tool to see what records are being overwritten).

And just a final reminder - the order of the records in flPlanterPlantedFlora and flPlanterPlantableItem need to be exactly the same - the two lists should be identical.

Good luck, I hope you got it fixed!

I did something wrong. My apple trees are growing dragon's tongue.
smr1957 May 13, 2023 @ 12:27pm
Make sure that the two items are in the same position in each list. E.g. - if apple trees are in the 35th slot in one, then they need to be in the 35th slot in the other list as well. Formlists can be a pain in the butt - a lot of tedious checking to ensure that each item is occupying the same slot in both lists. Both lists need to be exactly the same.

Eventually you will get it straightened out - it just takes patience and time.

So, if I have tomato as let's say 30 and 60, can I remove one?
Wild Child May 13, 2023 @ 7:36pm
I think I just realized what you mean. You're talking about the two different flPlanter lists. One for Flora and one for item, right?
