Can I use Open Civil war mid game? Or do I need to start a new game?

If your PC can handle it use Skyrim at War. Adds patrolling warbands for the Stormcloaks and Imperials as well as faction-recognition based on uniforms you wear/access to lead your own warband.

Plays well with Open Civil War, which is the most stable and reliable civil war overhaul out there.

Honestly, adding any mod mid game has the potential to cause problems because unless whatever you add is dead last in the load order it can screw up important record numbers - and dead last means if there's any conflicts the new mod wins, which in itself can break saves for similar reasons.

Basically, have to establish a mod list before you start playing or you're going to eventually run into problems up to and including CTDs when loading.

Im trying to remember but wasn't there a Mod that let you Kill out post leaders as well. So you can truly Clean up the enemy factions.

Yes , It was mentioned by Another person up here
It's called "Civil War Aftermath"
You can kill the camp leaders and burn down their camps so they don't even respawn
+ You'll get a letter with a small reward from your faction leader
+ sometimes you may encounter enemy soldiers being executed / tortured after losing the war

And I just remembered another mod I consider essential in my list
"Clivil war lines expansion"
I use all the line expansion from the same mod author , this one really adds that missing personality and details for the gaurds who always talking nonsense repetitively in the vanilla game
