What Happens If You Kill Orgnar?
Was messing about for fun and realized you can kill Orgnar.

Just curious, what happens if you kill him? Who takes over the Sleeping Giant Inn? Does Delphine interact with that replacement the same way she does with Orgnar prior to her moving to Sky Haven Temple?

Delphine is the actual innkeeper of the Sleeping Giant Inn, and since she is essential, the ownership never changes hands. As for poor Orgnar - well, its just R.I.P. :lunar2019grinningpig:

(Though guess it would mean Delphine now has to do all the chores herself - serves her right!)

But Delphine relinquishes her status as the “official” innkeeper once you head off for Sky Haven Temple.

From that point forward, Orgnar gets the option to rent the room.

And before that, while Delphine is technically the “official” innkeeper, Orgnar is the one you can ask about rumors/work and buy things from while Delphine is just for renting the room.

So if you kill him before Sky Haven Temple does Delphine inherit those dialogue options?

Does any NPC replace him if he dies before or after Sky Haven Temple?

Now that I think more about it I vaguely recall hearing that Camilla takes over, but I could be thinking about what happens if her brother dies (she takes over the store).

Do a save, kill him. See what happens.

Orgnar doesn't have a backup replacement. Camilla will only replace Lucan when he is killed. If Orgnar is killed, the Sleeping Giant Inn will be without an inkeeper.

Darn! I was hoping to see Delphine doing dishes, mopping the floor (especially after a REALLY busy night), and cleaning out all the buckets! Especially the buckets! :steamhappy:

Yeah, i was kind of hoping to see Delphine have to do it :steamsad:

Odd they never gave Orgnar a replacement, when they knew Delphine would relinquish the Inn during the main quest and he's not set as essential...

Huh…he just doesn’t get a replacement and the Sleeping Giant Inn just…keeps existing as an inn without an innkeeper?

If that’s the case, I wonder if when Orgnar is dead and Delphine leaves, if all the stuff in the inn becomes free game, the patrons keep visiting, or you can sleep in the beds at any time without paying rent?

Side question: what happens if you take up Lucan’s Golden Claw quest before starting Bleakfalls Barrow (the quest) and go up there, kill Arvel, take the claw, and then turn around and leave and return to Riverwood?

Does Lucan accept the claw back or is the dialogue option to turn it in just not there? If you can turn it in, what happens when you get the BFB quest? Does Lucan let you borrow the claw and make you promise to return it? Or is the only way to actually complete the BFB quest at that point to break into his shop at night and steal it or steal it and run?

I don't know why anyone would turn around especially once you learn about the door the claw opens. Who would give up potential treasure?

Aside from that, I don't know what happens if you leave the way you came and give the claw back. It should be possible to do, I don't think the dialogue option would disappear. if I had the game installed I would check myself.

This is one of those intriguing things that occurs in games sometimes - when you do something that feels only natural or what the game expects you to do.

Like you said, you go that far and get the claw and can clearly see there’s more to BFB ahead, and if you read Arvel’s Journal he talks about the door and mysterious treasure.

So naturally, you just keep going forwards.

You don’t HAVE to, you’re not restricted from turning around and leaving the way you came, using the claw on the door isn’t a requirement of Lucan’s quest…it’s just something we naturally do.

Then you think about it and realize that and wonder what actually happens if you do the UNEXPECTED.

Some games will reward you for that or open different paths and outcomes, but I don’t think Skyrim does that in this case.

My money would be on you giving it back to him as normal, and then needing to resort to stealing it later on to complete the BFB quest.

I know you can’t re-obtain the claw normally after giving it back to him once you’ve completed the BFB quest the way usually everyone does, if you want it you have to steal it.

So it’s probably just that.

But it would be interesting if there was a bit of little-known dialogue with him in this circumstance where you ask him to borrow it and promise to return it afterwards. And if you choose not to give it back to him you automatically get a bounty for theft if you enter Riverwood again.

You cannot return the claw to Lucan until the Bleak Falls portion of the quest is completed.

From https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:The_Golden_Claw

" - You cannot return the claw to Lucan until this part[en.uesp.net] of the concurrent quest is complete."

I can say 1 thing it will probably break the game, because Delphine will hate your guts and she's needed for the main quest ... also fun fact Delphine is set to essential

Ah, I forgot about that “Find the Secret of Bleak Falls Barrow” part of the Golden Claw quest.
