How to have followers avoid traps?
I tried googling this but all the answers were just "get such and such mod", and I'm on the PS3 version so that's not an option for me.

It seems like every time I'm going through some tomb or other place with booby traps, my follower will always set it off. Is there any way to get them to avoid doing this? I know you can just tell them to "stay", but then they'll be left behind and won't be backing you up for the rest of the dungeon/tomb/etc. It just seems like such a critical AI issue to always have them wandering blindly onto pressure plates and setting off every trap, I'm surprised they're that dumb.

unless a mod adds something they will always trip traps.

Yep that's why a lot of us have a mod such as follower trap safety in their build

Pretty much the reason a lot of players hate followers in full-vanilla Skyrim:
45% of the time they are activating traps; 45% they are blocking doors; only 10% actually being helpful.

If you need damage/meat shield, go Conjuration (Frost Atronach; Storm Atronach; Dremora Lord).
If you need a pack mule, use carry-weight Enchanting & Potions.

You forgot: Standing directly in the player's line of fire thus many times dying.

Well that's a shame there's no way around it. Guess Bethesda dropped the ball on this one...

When you play on a limited console instead of a PC you have to expect limitations, this is one of them.

Just mods, ones that improve AI behaviour, or ones that overhaul followers specifically.

Or just add the "Lightfooted" perk to the follower using the CK or SSEedit.

That is the main reason you learn the run shout so early.
You dash through and let your follower trigger everything safely behind

OP means them tripping traps alerts enemy NPCs, breaking stealth.

The OP never specifically mentioned stealth. Though if they are using followers on a stealth character, well they are bad for stealth builds for more reasons than just tripping every trap.

Yes I know, unless you mod them, then they are only mildly bad at it.
