No Workshop?
I have the standard version of Skyrim from original release, but on Steam I'm unable to find the store page, or Workshop to add mods to the game. Is this removed in favour or this Special Edition?

I don't know how to use other modding software like Nexus as it's too confusing to use when Steam's Workshop feature was just a 1-click to add option.

Well it never has been 1 click people forget there's still a small thing like a load order. That said SSE has a build in mod section, however I STRONGLY suggest using the Nexus and learn to properly mod the game.

In general it's up to the game devs to opt for the workshop and with SSE Bethesda opted for an inhouse solution.

Thanks for replying but is the Workshop and Community Pages removed for standard Skyrim? All my options are greyed out and I can't even access the Store Page for it. Only SSE has a Store Page for me.

And Nexus was highly impractical, I don't understand moving folders and going into files, as well downloading from random lists, it's not user friendly at all unless it's been updated recently. Steam's version just worked for me.

No it still exists for the original as far as I know They treat SSE as a totally separate game as for the store page it's set to hidden they want you to buy SSE. As for installing mods on the nexus that's where a mod manager comes in Nexus itself has 1 called Vortex.

If I go into the Steam app I can still get the pages

I just closed and logged out + back in to Steam and now I can access the store pages and Workshop fine.

And thanks for Nexus/Vortex stuff but it just simply overwhelms me with how technical that side of modding is and I prefer Steam's integrated, click to Subscribe, method.

If it seems overwhelming to mod the game, take a look at the following:
Advice to New Players Regarding Modding the Game

Link is in the For Those New to Modding the Game section of the following

from the PINNED TOPIC Helpful Links and References

While it may still seem a little more than you want to do, the linked topics and guides in that post are an excellent place to start and filled with information that is both good and fairly easy to follow.

Here's a tip: There are 2 popular mod managers for Skyrim. Vortex, and MO2. Vortex is very beginner-friendly but struggles with larger modlists. MO2 is faster but much more technical, and doesn't come with as many features as Vortex when it's fresh off the lot. I've been using Vortex for years and never had the balls to switch to MO2, but that's just me.

Vortex has no problems at all with larger mod lists - we have people here who use it and have builds close to a thousand mods - if not more.

Even If it was a problem I don't see OP building large lists in foreseeable future (N/O to OP)

It should be available. I just checked it and I could reach the workshop there. Just go to the library, select the original Skyrim (aka Oldrim) and in the view, you should have various menus at the top. One of them is workshop.
Or click on this here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/72850/workshop/

The store page is excluded from search and navigation in favor of this game yes. However you can still access it by direct link;
https://store.steampowered.com/app/72850/The_Elder_Scrolls_V_Skyrim/

Feel free to stay at Oldrim, it's not an end of the world. People is suggesting to use this game because it offers more modding capabilities than Oldrim. Not to mention various enhancements the game engine has gotten.

it isn't anywhere near complicated, in fact you just explained the whole process in one sentence. If you aren't willing to learn something so simple maybe you don't really want to use mods.

If nexus is too overwhelming for you then do not mod the game, nexus puts everything where it need to go. Adding mods to a game is not anywhere as difficult as writing mods for a game, but it still takes some effort on your part. Just follow the directions.

I really disagree due to skyrims programming many modsare incompatible even if logically outside games programming they shouldnt. Like how areas of world have listed data so water mod needs patch for land/grass/tree mods, then sounds for those need patches, then any edit to npc's need patches even if one changes hair and face and other changes stats.

Modding skyrim is objectively a mess with no easy solution. I havent seen actual patch sets that actually cleanly fix the black face compatibility bug for example.

That said very same issues happen with workshop on oldrim. I know this because it happened to me. You also cant debug crashes from incompatibility. In fact unless AE has a specific debug mod 1.5 version of SE is only version with a real debug ability via .netscriptframework.

Nexus takes some getting used to, but you'll get warmed up to it. Been using it for 7 years. Watch some tutorials, and use Vortex as a primary mod manager. It automatically does your load order for you I think. Anyways it's not too complicated once you start to understand it.

I still really miss the old layout lol.

Workshop for oldrim is still there on my library page for the game.

That said, it was never a 1 click system, you still have to have the mods in the right order, you just had to do it manually.

Nexus on the other hand has two mod managers (Vortex and Mod Organisor 2) with a built in sorting function (the LOOT api to be precise), making modding with it easier, just don't forget to click "apply" after you sort the load order.
