In general it's up to the game devs to opt for the workshop and with SSE Bethesda opted for an inhouse solution.
Thanks for replying but is the Workshop and Community Pages removed for standard Skyrim? All my options are greyed out and I can't even access the Store Page for it. Only SSE has a Store Page for me.
And Nexus was highly impractical, I don't understand moving folders and going into files, as well downloading from random lists, it's not user friendly at all unless it's been updated recently. Steam's version just worked for me.
If I go into the Steam app I can still get the pages
I just closed and logged out + back in to Steam and now I can access the store pages and Workshop fine.
And thanks for Nexus/Vortex stuff but it just simply overwhelms me with how technical that side of modding is and I prefer Steam's integrated, click to Subscribe, method.

While it may still seem a little more than you want to do, the linked topics and guides in that post are an excellent place to start and filled with information that is both good and fairly easy to follow.
Here's a tip: There are 2 popular mod managers for Skyrim. Vortex, and MO2. Vortex is very beginner-friendly but struggles with larger modlists. MO2 is faster but much more technical, and doesn't come with as many features as Vortex when it's fresh off the lot. I've been using Vortex for years and never had the balls to switch to MO2, but that's just me.

The store page is excluded from search and navigation in favor of this game yes. However you can still access it by direct link;

Feel free to stay at Oldrim, it's not an end of the world. People is suggesting to use this game because it offers more modding capabilities than Oldrim. Not to mention various enhancements the game engine has gotten.
Modding skyrim is objectively a mess with no easy solution. I havent seen actual patch sets that actually cleanly fix the black face compatibility bug for example.
That said very same issues happen with workshop on oldrim. I know this because it happened to me. You also cant debug crashes from incompatibility. In fact unless AE has a specific debug mod 1.5 version of SE is only version with a real debug ability via .netscriptframework.
I still really miss the old layout lol.
That said, it was never a 1 click system, you still have to have the mods in the right order, you just had to do it manually.
Nexus on the other hand has two mod managers (Vortex and Mod Organisor 2) with a built in sorting function (the LOOT api to be precise), making modding with it easier, just don't forget to click "apply" after you sort the load order.
