Hi, its worth buying the Anniversary edition?
I have the special edition of Skyrim and want to do another full playthrough after several years. I'm considering buying the 'new' edition but unsure if it offers significant improvements over the special edition. I plan on using some quality-of-life mods, but not too many. Is it worth buying the 'new' edition, or should I stick with the special edition for my playthrough?

Anniversary Edition is just Special Edition with about 80~ creation club mods put into a single DLC. It also reduces loading screens to basically an instant load from my current playthrough and apparently it enhances graphics a bit but i havent seen a difference.

As for mods, most mods have either been updated to work with AE or have compatibility patches made by others, so you should be fine. All in all, theres not really a reason to not buy AE, but if you don't need the 80~ mods, don't download it.

Oh right, you can fish aswell.

You can do that with just the Special Edition. Its one of the 4 CC items that was added to the base game for everyone. The Anniversary Upgrade is just the other 70 CC items.

I vote upgrade! To experience some new stuff. If you're already on the latest 1.6.640 then all mods will still work.

It's even on 50% sale atm at GamesPlanet: https://isthereanydeal.com/game/elderscrollsvskyrimanniversaryeditionupgrade/info/

not all mods, on nexus and other sites are upgraded to version 1.6.640. and ever more so for the GOG version. a large part of the modding community havent updated their mods. and some seem to be done with all the updates to skyrim. a good part of them are yes, if you want to upgrade then go for it. all the CC mods are more than 20$, so getting the AE is worth it. it adds a lot to the game.

Yes it's worth it. I updated and purchased the Anniversary DLC. The vast majority of mods that needed to be updated have been updated, many did not need an update. One thing for sure there is no lack of mods, my last load order was about 1,000 mods with it.

I have another view on that... I upgraded for all the extra mods and found I did not like 90 percent of them (and disabled them). So... Here is one person that wishes they did not upgrade.

Nexus has a far far far far larger selection of mods than whats on the dlc and either has mods that are the same or similar enough to not matter. Not saying don't get it but make sure the mods that are included are ones you actually care about.

Fishing is very relaxing, in game and real life

Was just fishing a few minutes ago in game and it's great considering this is not a fishing game anyway. You stop, relax, catch a few fish for dinner or alchemy, then move on and fight dragons, or Thalmor, or whatever. But just like in RL if you don't like fishing then don't.

no its not because you have a 50% chance of a quest line getting soft locked and you will not be able to complete it unless you start a new game.
