Sawn Log glitch:

i'm on my 3rd playthrough this time, first one using mods. i use the better vampires and the make anyone follow mod. its so frustrating when i get very far in the game and buy a house and start building it there is always some glitch in the way of getting building supplies.

this time its the sawn logs, i bought some at a mill, he said he would deliver soon, waited a week it never came. i went back he wasn't there, i went to every other mill they either don't want to sell it to me or they just don't bring up selling logs after telling me they own the mill. i've tried cutting them myself no luck. then i tried console commands and even that says it doesn't exist.

TLDR// it sucks to do a playthrough for 50 hours or so and then find out you cant finish the end game content because of a glitch and so you just want to start it all over again...

The easiest way to get sawn logs is to assign a steward to the homestead from among your thane appointees. You will get a dialogue option to purchase building materials when you converse with them and they will take care of it. The logs show up in your inventory almost immediately. Running around from one mill to another is a waste of time.

i made my companion my steward but there was no dialogue option to buy wood sadly.

Does money get removed from your character?
What happens if you use this command? (how many items does it show?)

Player.GetItemCount 0300300e

Using this command should give you 10 saw log immediately - if it didn't, there's something seriously wrong with your game / I would recommend a clean full reinstall:
Player.AddItem 0300300e 10

The dialogue option with your steward shows up in a list of things like, buy building materials, furnish the house, improve the homestead, etc. Under buy building materials you can choose lumber, clay, stone, iron. Lumber is 200 gold for 20 sawn logs. The only characters I've found that will work correctly as stewards are the ones that you receive from a jarl after becoming thane of a hold. Hired companions don't seem to work. Neither do ones that you can simply ask to accompany you (like Erandur in Dawnstar). If you've modded your game then all bets are off - they all tend to have undocumented side effects.

You can't have them in the party afterwards, since you're using a multiple follower/companion mod, it probably won't auto-dismiss him/her, you'll probably need to manually part ways with them first, they'll then say something like "I'll watch <whatever_hearthfire_estate> until you return." Then you'll get the buy me a horse, bard, cow, crafting supplies, etc. options.

ill try this out. i havent messed with my followers much i kinda gave up and stopped playing at that point.

it said the command didn't work i've tried multiple times as if logs dont exist though i used the two that came with the house so they must be in the game. i may have to reinstall though i dont have the energy to reinstall and restart another 100hrs
