Creation Kit Custom Race

So I wanted to make a npc using a custom race that I've downloaded but I can't figure out how to go about adding it so I can choose that race. I tried the internet but I just keep finding things about making your own custom race. Which isn't what I need. Any ideas??

I haven't mucked with Skyrims CK, but doesn't it work like Morrowind's did? You'd load your base game ESP and since you want to use a race from a mod, that mod into the CK? This would give you access to the assets of both the game and the mod. Make the modifications you want and then you clean it via SSEEdit (with MW I used Wryebash IIRC), finally when saved, a mod with dependencies of both the base game and the racial mod is created?


Grossly over simplified but in essence I think correct.
