I've spent how many hours?!?!?!
Just noticed the other day that I have now spent over 900 hours on skyrim se and over 1100 on skyrim le over the years.. I am both impressed and depressed over this. Just think of the time I could have spent doing other things....or would I . I like to think that I would have finally gotten off my rear and done all the other games and projects around the house that I have been meaning to do for.....years. Of course I probably would have just found another past time to spend so much time on... SO what about all of you how long have you been playing this game and what have you been putting off doing instead of just playing skyrim???

I always thought that if I had more free time, I could learn coding....COVID lockdown showed the fallacy of that notion.

Over 9000 here.

at least it is interactive/stimulating. A lot of people have spent multiples of this watching tv.

Well. for me, around 4100 hours combined for Oldrim and SSE, but for associated things, around 8000 hours in xEdit, and only the Nines know how many thousands upon thousands of hours helping in the forums - LOL!

I know what you mean. Been playing since launch and pushing almost 30 hours so far.

I don't know my hours, but if you added up everything from arena forward, its a LOT. I think I played through arena with nearly every class, and probably 5 or so runs through daggerfall, countless through morrowind and its expansions ... didn't like oblivion as much and only 2 end to end plays, a few mess around runs ... skyrim another 10+ but focused, never had a 'done it all with this guy' runs. Just now coming back, most of that was in original skyrim.

And just imagine, you’ve spent about 35,000 hours of those 12 years sleeping (if you averaged about 8 hours a day).

I lost track between Skyrim and Skyrim SE, on both xBox and PC. But SSE on PC it's 3,659.
I have no idea how many additional hours I've spent in xEdit, LOOT, Mod managers etc. and I don't want to know lol.

Think of it this way, how many hours are you sitting on the toilet, how many hours in traffic, how many hours are you taking a dog for a walk (if you have one), how many hours spend on watching commercials on TV, how many hours cooking dinner. Some are literally pointless hours wasted, some are spend on fun activities. If you had fun during those 2000 hours, are they truly wasted?

I mean in my dogs life i think i have spend around 4000 hours taking her for walks, and that's just my share of taking her out for walks. Was that wasted time?, no i had fun with that, she's pretty old now and probably wont be around for another 5 years, but in the years she has left i'm sure taking her for her walks. She likes her walks, and if she's happy i'm happy.

I don’t think the argument is focused on whether or not those hours were wasted in regards to being entertained and enjoying yourself.

I think it has more to do with the idea of how else that time could’ve been used.

The reality is that while plenty of people have entirely healthy ways of keeping gaming in their life, an equally large amount of people don’t - putting game time ahead of school/work/family responsibilities, personal health (exercise, sleep, hygiene, etc), their social life (friends, spouses, significant others), and so on.

That’s why “gaming addiction” is still a debated topic and one that rears its head from time to time when something happens that gains local or National attention.

Personally, I think it absolutely can be an addiction. While you may not be ingesting, imbibing, or injecting a chemical into your system that your body becomes physically dependent on - many hallmarks of addiction are definitely present, the biggest one being a person’s repeated willingness to damage or negatively impact themselves and/or others in order to partake in that activity.

I played tons of Atari games when I was a kid. I didn't play video games again until I built my first gaming PC in 2016. I have probably played enough games to = 5K plus hours since then. If I have free time, I am playing a game on my PC. Before I got back into gaming I literally sat around staring at the walls and if a thought popped into my mind I would google it. I get great enjoyment out of building my own rigs and playing awesome games like Skyrim and that is all that matters.

This is why I quit playing mmo's. I was spendin way too much time and money instead of studying and was definitely sleep deprived. This is made worse if they server time of the game is different from where you live. Too much time spent playing at odd hours of the night.

Do yourselves a favor... Stay away from the so called "free" mmo's.
