I didn’t get many responses, but from the ones I got it sounds like all you need to do is download OAR, install it, and remove DAR.
Any/all DAR mods you already have installed should apparently keep working as normal and you don’t need to move files around, reinstall them, or covert them into some kind of new format.
It sounds like, as Todd says, it just works.
I haven’t tried this yet though, to be honest.
After two weeks of spending more of my free time looking at Nexus, Vortex, and SSEEdit/NikSkope than playing the actual game, I think I’ve finally reached the point where my current 2,000+ mod LO not only satisfies my current interests/needs for a new run through of the game, but it’s actually relatively stable…I’m hesitant to just hope that OAR works like this out of fear that I’ll just bork my LO and current save file.
But please, if you try it and it really does work that way let us know.
That video presents a nr of 1st person animation adds that I REALLY like so...I'll most likely be "fcking around and finding out". HOPEFULLY, it doesnt bite me in the backside.
(I saw in the search that this topic had been raised, but it didnt appear to have been addressed so..I figured ask again...maybe it just got overlooked 1st time up)
well...nothing ventured...
LOOT seems to be happy. Installing an animation package now. Test it soon enough. (Yes, I gotta run FNIS first)
But I get a disconcerting warning on launch, which I have to click OK, then the launch proceeds and the game initiates.:
No valid segment found! SRTCrashFix64 Patch can not be applied. It may
happen due to incompatible runtime version or some other plugin
already made changes to the patching segment.
OK, other that warning which appears on a white background and stops the games initialization until I click OK or close that lil window, after which it proceeds to initialize...it "seems" to be alright. I will admit to being a tad concerned about a "runtime" issue...which I think is a windows operational thing but...

Not sure what was going on with your follower mod, does it require DAR? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a follower mod that requires that.
And yes, with the current character I’m using a little over 2,000 of my 2,200 mods.
Keep in mind though, Vortex counts both .esp and .esl files.
I think I have something like 235 .esp files and the rest of that 2,000 are .esl files (compatibility patches, tweaks, character presets, weapons/armor, cosmetic stuff, textures, etc).
It’s easy to rack up thousands of .esl files, that’s why there’s something like a ~4,500 limit.
I have found no other issues so far.
One of the other mods I installed, was a new 1st person camera and it is INCREDIBLE!

For example, I recently downloaded a mod that makes dungeons darker by switching off light sources (candles, lanterns, random fires, etc) and allows them to be relit by the player as you explore.
The mod creator states it’s fine to install on an in progress game, but after installing it I loaded up my game and I was in Belethor’s shop in Whiterun. I exited the shop and suddenly a dragon spawned inside and attacked Whiterun (something that isn’t SUPPOSED to happen), to make matters worse, I couldn’t draw/equip any weapons.
Ultimately, I had to draw my weapon before leaving the shop in order to be able to attack and freely equip/un-equip weapons and kill the dragon. Thankfully, it didn’t kill any NPCs.
Since then, I haven’t had any issues with equipping gear or dragon’s attacking INSIDE cities.
This game just does weird stuff on its own sometimes when you plug mods into it lol

Yeah, that's Bethesda. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE what they put out...6 months after it has been out and they've released 1/2 dz hot fixes and the modding community has released a 250mb Unofficial Patch. :)
Or did you have to reinstall them? Do some of them just not work anymore?
I do have that error message that references runtime at startup...just before the screen goes black and goes into the title screen:
"No valid segment found! SRTCrashFix64 Patch can not be applied. It may
happen due to incompatible runtime version or some other plugin
already made changes to the patching segment."
But I click OK on that notification and then the game continues to initialize, and none of my other mods has acted up yet. So yeah, install OAR, remove DAR, and you should be on your way.
EDIT: As in all things Bethesda/mod related. Your mileage may vary. Caveat emptor.
How do profiles work with Vortex?
IOW, could you make another profile, identical, then install OAR on one and remove the DAR in that one; but IF that mucked up, you'd still have the other profile with the unaltered DAR?
lmao
but no seriously OAR is plug and play. i use it on a 3500+ mod list and i just swapped from DAR a few months ago when my list was sitting somewhere around 2400
