Obsidian weathers broken shadows
Has anyone ever come across this issue before? This seems to only be happening with certain weather types (slightly cloudy or cloudy days). I thought maybe I had a mod conflict, but I tested this with other weather mods and it's only happening with Obsidian Weathers. Here is a photo of what I am talking about - only parts of my players shadow is showing - beneath the feet and the end of the sword.

Check your SkyrimPrefs.ini for the setting fshadowdistance
minimum should be 8000

[Display]
fShadowDistance=8000

Mine is set as:
fShadowDistance=10860.0000

SkyrimPrefs.ini can be found here:
C:\Users\<YOUR NAME>\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition

OR (if you're open to using mods)
You can use Bethini and use the settings in this guide:
Look under the section titled Bethini (optional - Recommended)

Bethini does wonders for your game but you must only tweak certain settings and also make sure you check "Recommended tweaks". Everything is in the guide step by step. Well worth it especially if you are not familiar with what the ini settings do.

I use Bethini with ultra + recommended presets. I believe that default is 10860 for shadow distance.

But like I mentioned, this isn't happening with other weather mods. I tested Classic Weathers, Azurite, and Raid weathers and I don't seem to be having the shadow problem I have with Obsidian. I would ask on Obsidian's nexus page, but it's not as active over there anymore. I do remember Obsidian having issues with shadow lines in the past (easily seen during night with snow textures) - but I never remember reading or having an issue like this before.

I use Obsidian Weathers in each and every play through for the past 4 years and it's included in all of my Load order Guides, it's also a very popular mod. Obsidian by itself shouldn't do what you are experiencing.

I'd post your load order and maybe someone will spot something.

I tested it with Cathedral just now and it's happening with that one too. Seems something conflicts with Obsidian and Cathedral. But not the others.

It might be conflicting with the soft shadows mod I have. I'll test it shortly.

Yes. And Obsidian hasn't had an update because it hasn't needed one. At least not a major fix type update. Could it use some tweaking? Perhaps, but that can be said about many mods.
