Is there no way to spawn a weapon rack or plaque?
It blows my mind that Bethesda made it so impossible to spawn a working weapon rack. After all these years there is no console command to spawn one and no mods??? Did they really make it that complicated? I don't even need a working, interactive weapon rack, just one that I can spawn and then place weapons manually with Jaxonz Positioner.

I have seen quite a few mods that add weapon racks and mannequins so how is it that nobody can make a mod with stand alone weapon racks and mannequins. I tried player.placeatme 016BB289 1 and it doesn't work.

I used Jaxonz to copy one of the weapon plaques in the basement of a Hearthfire home and it was 2 separate halves. After successfully copying both halves, they stopped responding to being moved with Jaxonz and I couldn't even delete them. Had to go back to a previous save.

You can likely spawn the plaque or rack, those are just objects. What actually makes them work is a complicated thing to explain as I barely understand it myself. But you basicly have to link a marker to that object and oriantate it.

So you can't really do it. You can try to find a mod that will allow you place pre - defined, but I don't recall ever seeing one. There has to be a way though. I mean campfire places stuff like that with the tents and placing weapons on the ground (though they are not your equipped weapons but use the Base Ref ID of your weapons.)
Why would a stunted version of developers testing tools allow you to spawn racks?
because that's all the console is.....

That's my point. The new version of campfire, Skyrim Settlement Builder has a trap door that leads to a cellar armory with fully functional weapon racks and mannequins. Why can a modder create something like that but not the individual weapon racks or mannequins that you can place wherever you want? I asked on the mod page but got no response.

A weapon rack is not a singular object. Its the physical plaque, which can also be multiple objects in the case of the sheild racks, a marker and an activator. All of these objects are linked up in the creation kit and reference eachother so the trigger box knows which plaque its attached to and the activator as well.

This is why you cannot build them in console, for one it is multiple objects and secondly there is no way to setup the reference links even if you did place all of the components.

If you look at the weapon displays from the F4 DLC, it uses a completely different script and is a singular object, which is how they can be placed in settlement mode.

The only way to do this in Skyrim would be to create a custom weapon display system, which some modders have done.

I get the issue with the activator but why can't i at least spawn a non working weapon plaque, rack or mannequin? I can use Jaxonz to place weapons and shields manually. I was able to copy a mannequin and equip it with armor by opening actor container. I think I saw a mod for oldrim that spawns mannequins but I am more interested in weapon racks.

You probably can, but if you are trying to get the ID in console for an existing rack, you are probably selecting and placing the invisible activator instead of the actual plaque. Besides it wouldn't function as a proper weapon rack for the reasons above anyways.

Here is some more info on weapon rack mechanics if you are interested.

There's no way you can accomplish this ingame, not even with Jaxonz. A weapon plaque has 3 or sometimes more parts, two activators, of which one is invisible in game, and a static. All parts are linked to each other. See my guide about the details and how to create weapon racks, weapon plaques and mannequins with the Creation Kit. Not reallly difficult, but you have to know how it's done.

I was able to use Jaxonz to copy both halves of a weapon plaque that has slots for a shield and two weapons. I can place each half of the copy to make a static weapon plaque but if I try to adjust it after placing it, it won't move and stays highlighted even after exiting the game. If I was able to place both halves perfectly the first time this would work but it's really hard to line them up evenly when one half is highlighted.

The other weapon plaque that holds just one weapon won't even copy.

There are at least three objects, two activators and one static object, sometimes more. These are interconnected and have scripts attached, and one activator and the static are not visible in game. There is a possibility to make the invisible objects visible in game, but I have no clue if you can intereact with those. You most probably have to do this in the Creation KIt. Maybe it could be done with xEdit, but I have too less experience with that utility. Also I don't think that Jaxonx is in any way created for this purpose.

You can't move them after they are placed because they contain script properties and are marked as persistent objects.

See level 5 persistent objects as Arthmoor describes here:

https://www.afkmods.com/index.php?/topic/4250-skyrim-levels-of-persistence/

This is why I stated it is best done in the CK.

Creation Kit is the best way, xEdit would certainly let you duplicate a rack, but it might be two instances of the same rack....

And you are absolutely right, Jaxonx is not intended to be used that way, it is intended to allow you to postion stuff you find in the game more effectively, not to replicate the creation kit

Update: I have found out I CAN spawn weapon plaques. I didn't realize there were a whole list of results when you use help in the console. You have to use page up/down to see all the results. I have successfully spawned a weapon plaque and there is also an id for the activator. When I spawn the activator it is invisible but it works. I just don't know how to move it to the weapon plaque. Any ideas? So close to getting this to work.

If I click on the area where the activator is and select it with Jaxonz, it ends up spawning a crooked wooded weapon rack. I was thinking I could use the move to command but that only works on NPC's?

I can manually place weapons and shields without the activator but it would be really cool if it worked like in vanilla.

Maybe by using the STR console command (set refraction value). Values to be used range from 0.000000 to 1.000000. I have never used this command, but it seems to be the only command that can make objects invisible/visible.
<RefID>.str 0.000001 (makes an object invisible) <RefID>.str 1.000000 (makes an object visible) <RefID>.str 0.000000 (will turn of refraction)
Do not use this last command for NPCs, as it seems to mess up eyes and eyelashes.
