I don't use mod followers, however my best experience with Serana is when i can finally dismiss her again and don't have to hear her whining anymore. Also, combat wise she's D tier at best.
Best followers in the game.
5- Teldyn, 500 cash, can have him at the start of the game, conjuration, destruction, one handed, full set of armor, can't go wrong with the guy.
4- Durak, primarily an archer, secondary one handed, no max level, extra damage 1,5
3- Celann, primarily one handed, secondary archer, no max level, extra damage 1,5. Basically almost the same as Durak, but he's a Breton with 25% base magic resist and slightly better perks.
2- Freya, one of the few followers with dual wield perks, no max level, minimum level of 20, very good perk setup.
1- Ralis, expensive, lvl 60 max, another dual wielder, very good perk setup, extra damage 2.0. This dude can single handedly play the game for you. By far the highest damage output of any follower. Yeah he has no max level, but at 60, who cares, he's never dropped down to the floor for me once. And he doesn't whine, he's direct with his speech, just how i like my followers, i don't need them to say the same thing every minute about the scenery.
which is the reason why bethesda love to re-release skyrim so much
do the right thing and put her out of misery
"...this Skyrim weather I've always herd about." - Seriously? Yesmir's Beard, it's not like she's an alien. She lived there.
Then, there's the fact that if Serana is in your party, it nerfs your Drain Life spell, if you're a vampire. The damn spell was already unless but this alone is an incentive to kick her ass to the curb.
THEN... the absolute WORST part of her, is she will get locked in combat after every other fight. I will never take her anywhere. Except home and I can't get there fast enough.
I just wish Indigo was as weird and quirky as he was when you first get him in Riften jail. He kinda levels out mentally after that.
Other than his personality he's just a straight forward warrior. Had to take his ebony bow away because he was one shotting ♥♥♥♥ before my flames hit.
Why? Because they don't encroach upon the player. That alone is the selling point. Plus, they have the combat warrior skill package. HA, 1H, Block and Archery.
Lydia is easily accessible early game and can be with you the entire playthrough.
The most powerful followers in the game are the ones from the Tribunal CC. They can level to 100.
Alas, the best followers, period... are Dead Thrall Draugr Overlords.
Serana: 'Where did you come from!?!'
Me: 'You... just raised him from the dead...'
...but false at the same time.
I love it.
But Lydia gets in front of DB too much and complains mention DB should not be here.
She can die to.
How advance or worst was followers in the prequels?
If i look at her, she stops doing her stare thing and looks at DB
they have a lot more that they do with the environment than in any other game previous in the franchise as well there replies to areas. serena in this game does indeed have full automation when idle when there are things to interact with withing some range. where others do not as much.
they all can get in the way especially in narrow corridors where you have to take point but now can not fall back at all. or ice(all bigger summons really) summon that blocks entry ways where you have to banish or re-summon further away.
