Pickpocketing and lockpicking
Are the items in the pockets of the NPC updated or having robbed once, the second time you definitely won’t find anything of value?

In the thieves guild, training chests after one of my hacks have been open for a long time. Will they ever be closed?

Items will respawn. The respawn time for cities is 10 ingame days.

Ragged Flagon does not respawn at all. The Cistern does. I do not recall if those chest get locked again, but Cistern respawn time is also 10 ingame days.

Yes, those locks will respawn too i.e. they will be locked. The thing is you don't get an exp for picking them again.

Wiki says:
Lockpicking has the awkward feature that if you have already picked a given lock, but it has since reset to locked (e.g. a house overnight, or a door or chest in a dungeon that has respawned after clearing), you do not get experience for picking that lock a second time. So it is possible, and eventually inevitable, to actually run out of locks to pick that will actually improve your skill. Even the training locks in the Thieves Guild are subject to this: and once this hits, you eventually get to a place where Lockpicking can only be boosted by paying gold for training (limited to 5x per level) or breaking lockpicks while failing to pick a lock. Failing to pick a lock with the Skeleton Key gives no experience, since the Skeleton Key does not break... Thus, Lockpicking is probably better to keep at 100 and never make it legendary at all, or at least not more than once (there are enough locks in the game to level Lockpicking up to 100 at least twice, maybe three times if you really cast around and have all the expansions).

I never would have thought that repeated hacking in the same place would not give me experience. Thanks for this information :marten_sip:

Lol u DONT need any skill in lock picking, you can pick a apprentice lock as well as a master lock, unlike FO your not limited to locks u can pick by skill, in Skyrim, if u see a lock u can PICK it.

The trick is to "Bounce" the lock, in Skyrim it's a little easier, because a bar go's across the screen, if the bar starts to slow, your going the wrong way, and the pick will snap, so reset pick, "bounce" rinse an repeat.

I'm not so noob that they explain to me how to pick locks and that I can break any of them. Why are you doing this to me? :D

When I talked about training chests, I was just wondering if they would ever be closed or not. On one Wiki it is written that yes, and even the loot will be updated, but I myself did not observe this, although a lot of time has passed. I think to wait a little longer and not appear at that location, because probably my frequent appearance there interfered with the update.

Of course it is easy to give an explanation from the "realistic", RPGish point of view. It's the same locks. We can imagine that somebody just lock them again using corresponding keys. If your character has already picked those locks - it means he has got all their secrets and features. He can not get new practical knowledge by picking the same locks again. Very logical.

Yes, I agree, it’s not a bad explanation that the lack of new experience is due to the fact that I have already revealed all the secrets of the cracked lock.

We don't know how "noob" any 1 is, then too, we don't know if any 1 else noticed, the "lock mechanism" or anything else.

Since i knew nothing, i decided to make sure that u were "aware" in my explanation just in case you didn't know... Some people dont!!!

In vanilla Skyrim there is no "bar" across the screen (unless you are referring to the representation of the pick itself), or any indication that you are going the wrong way (nothing "slows") - if you are seeing that, it is mod added.

A little off the topic, so I apologize for that, but a correction to avoid confusion to others who may read this and may be new.

Now u mention it, I'm think of Kingdoms of amular.... with the bar, in Skyrim there is still a "noticeable" animation. I'll boot up, make a vid....:steamhappy:
