Is there a mod/way to configure survival mode? (+mod reccomendations)
Long time Skyrim on Xbox 360 player and upon launching the PC version for the first time, I was introduced to "Survival Mode". I immediately fell in love with the whole idea of needing to sleep, eat, and stay warm in order to keep your bars full, it's something I always wished was in the game actually! HOWEVER I'm really not a fan of the reduced carry capacity and lack of fast-travel.

Obviously, looking in the menu I see that survival mode can only be fully off or on. So I was wondering if anyone knows of a mod or just general way I can configure what aspects of the survival mode actually apply to my game.

Also, since I am totally new to the world of PC skyrim mods, what would longtime players recommend? I have a pretty good PC so I'm looking for anything that improves visuals (animations, environment, or items/apparel), or just generally adds extra content.

I recommend Nolvus. Search for it on google, it has its own website and its own installer.

If you just want to configure the survival mode, there's Survival Control Panel:

Don't think the control panel mod (although good in other ways) addresses fast travel or carry weight. But, do a search on Nexus with keywords Survival Carry and Survival Fast and mods will pop up for fast travel and carry weight changes.

If you also have the full AE edition the carry weight isn't that big a deal though honestly. You can quickly and easily buy or craft a backpack that adds another 75 carry weight and it uses its own equipment slot, so basically free. That takes you from 150 back to 225, which is only 25 less than the default.

You can then also pick up the goat pet with another AE included addition that serves as a carry mule for you for another 140. Read the note laying on the bar in the Whiterun tavern to get directed to it. Now you are up to 365 carry with little effort even in survival.

It comes with a free 'teleport to me' spell, so you don't even have to have it travel with you if you don't want. You can literally tell it to wait outside a dungeon and teleport it to you as needed, load it up, head back to town, and teleport it again to you at a vendor.

I think you're right, I only use for a couple things and remembered one about weight, but it's only the arrow weight...
