Not everyone plays the game the same. I also have the anniversary edition (PS4) and love the actual survival aspects of weather, temperature, need for food, need for sleep (which has always been there) etc.
I decided to run a playthrough as a "normal" hunter in Skyrim, and thus far (level 6) I am making do as an herbalist and hunter. I use a bow mainly, plus a dagger, and the only thing that breaks the immersion for me (so far) are those stupid assassins that just randomly pop-up (hmm... I wonder if there is a mod to disable those).
These are my self-imposed rules:
1. No fast-travel
Note: I am aware walking everywhere takes a bit longer/puts you in greater danger, but it's also more realistic until I can get a horse.
2. No magic (since the character is "normal") and not a mage.
3. No shouts
4. No stealing
5. No joining any organization (no imperials/stormcloaks/dark brotherhood/thieves guild etc,)
6. No heavy armor; only "natural" light armors (something a hunter would be able to fashion themselves.)
Note: I've always thought it odd how the dragonborn can just learn how to make full plate armor or a steel sword in an afternoon of grinding. Those skills take years to master in the real world. Besides that, they tend to be "warmer" than the heavier options, so more practical in Skyrim's weather.
7. No forging of weapons; just arrows/backpacks, reasonable things a hunter might know how to do. (I use what weapons I find/get during those random encounters or buy from a weaponsmith)
That sounds really fun, I just started playing this game again after a year or so and I just want to achieve all the achievements, I made a female nord character (I used to play always with male characters) and I want to become the sneaky-thief type, it's hard tbh but lots of fun. And yes no fast travel, survival mode on. It takes me ages to arrive somewhere but just imagine the road adventures..
but also, as mentioned CC or anniversary is not technically "mods"
"As instructed, you are to eliminate ChanceGateau by any means necessary. The black sacrament has been performed - somebody wants this poor fool dead.
We've already recieved payment for the contract. Failure is not an option.
