Nexus
Why is nexus the only way to download mods, takes forever unless you pay money to use the platform for faster downloads.

This is why I do not like 'modpacks'. Just wait until you have to troubleshoot.

I get what most of what ya'll are saying but installing mod packs takes days
Can you share which mod pack you're referring to? I am curious how big it is and that it should "take days" or not. Then which mod manager are you using? It is possible that something is not right at their end. Some information is just missing here.

Nexus is not the only place with Skyrim SE mods. There are other ones too, Nexus is just the largest one. The download rates they're mentioning is a maximum one and is dependent on various factors such as download server in use is under pressure or network latency or ...

The ingame mod manager asks do I even exist to you. :steammocking:

Granted it doesn't have the sheer bulk of mods the browser based sites like nexus has but nearly all the most popular are there covering everything from bug fixes to graphics and new land and quests etc. Plus they should work with few troubleshooting issues as long as they are compatible with each other and those are typically listed.

It still makes sense even using the ingame mod options to at least install skse64 and its various plugins that fix more engine bugs and stuff like parallax which in combination with a simple lighting mod that turns volumetric lighting back on can transform the look of the game especially moody dungeons and interiors along with a quick and dirty bethini edit to max out all the settings.

sorry you are either unable to afford or just too cheap to pay for membership. It is not expensive at 7 bucks a month. Being a free user you really have no grounds to complain from. 1.5MBs to 3MBs is pretty generous considering the sheer amount of traffic they go through. Was hoping to find the lifetime pricepoint like I have but I guess that was a 1 time thing.

you want faster cough up the dough. If you cant or wont well deal with it.

it says "limited to 3 MB/s (MegaBytes) but in my experience it actually goes above that (sometimes) and does allow 3 files to download at once, despite what it says.

the collection i use is 9.4 gb, 64 mods (plus a few i manually add) i actually ended up downloading it twice, installed it and start using it for a couple weeks, then a power outage ate my ssd..
so i ended up reinstalling everything on my old hard drive, until my new PC arrives

took me about 2 hours to download and install on the slow slow hard drive (not that the drive speed really slowed down the install that much) honestly the hard part was i had to keep manually clicking "download" for a bunch of the mods.
if that's to long a wait or to annoying, just pay $5 (or whatever it is for your area) for one month, install it all, maybe make a backup just incase. then cancel it. or, don't use a collection.

According to Nexus mods, they set their downloads in MBps, not Mbps which is the normal measurement (Bytes vs bits). Since everyone is saying "mb", is it in bits then?

~1.5MB/s Regular users who are using an ad blocker.

~3MB/s Regular users without an ad blocker, mod authors, or users with a Supporter membership.

Unlimited Users with a Premium membership. This speed is uncapped but varies by location.

Questions for OP:

What size a mod are you downloading?
What speed are you showing it download at?
Do you use a ad blocker?
Are you seeing 2GB take 10 hours, or are you just assuming it will?
Once downloaded your computer takes days to install the mods?
What are your PC specs?

A mod collection so like 100+GB

Well, that one can take a while. I am curious if such downloads can be paused or not. And in which way? Per file or per megabyte? If a download is being reset (can happen because of various reason: data loss, server was too busy, client went asleep, ...), what happens?

I don't think you have an idea of how good it used to be when one mod website did not control everything

I know it is going toward Christmas and it is generally a good idea to ask Santa for free stuff, but when you do not like Nexusmods.com can you just make your own website. When it beats the speed of Nexusmods.com will it be only a matter of days or weeks before every major mod author jumps onto your platform. You may then even use it to make money with ads. But when you cannot or will not want to do it yourself then you also should not ask others to do it for you and just mention it kindly when you sit on Santa's lap and hope he listens.

Nobody is forcing you to use Nexus or upload mods to Nexus.
It's a free to use website that is hosting hundreds of thousands of mods. Boo hoo you can't download 200gb of mods in 5 minutes with a single click without paying $5, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cry me a river.

Well it is free right, or you pay.

I mean for the free+fast what is your business model?
I believe that business model is called praying for a miracle.

If you are using vortex to install the mods from nexus it allows for unlimited queuing of downloads. So as you browse nexus make sure vortex is open and logged in and whenever you click a download it will be added to the vortex list. Then once you have picked all your mods you can do other stuff as they download in the background then come back and install them all once finished.
