Overpowered Woodcutter's axe
Somehow the woodcutters axe has more damage than any iron or steel weapon. It even rivals those of dwemer and elven marterial.

Does anyone know of a mod that could have caused this or increase the damage output of the vanilla weapons? Weapons from mods also seem to have higher damage than the vanilla ones, and I just want to balance things out and make sure that the early weapons aren't obsolete.

I am not sure how yours is more powerful, but according to the wiki the woodcutting axe doesn't benefit from perks as its not technically a war axe, so despite it being stronger it will likely be a clumsy weapon compared to using more specialised stuff.

I med a mod of my own to solve this issue. I lowered the damage by 1 (to override whatever changes it upwards), made it two handed, and slower. I don't mind having an axe with a punch, but it shouldn't outperform all iron and steel one handed weapons when it's just a tool.

The last time I did the Civil War, Rikke fought the entire Windhelm battle with a woodcutter's ax.

I'm not sure what causes this, but I suspect it might have something to do with the unofficial patch. They might have accidentally patched the axe too much. But I'm not sure. The mod that makes it two-handed didn't solve the issue, but worsened it. Spiked up to 39 damage. That's ebony, at least. Was around 20 without that mod. And that mod is dependent on lots of unofficial patches, and it was only supposed to make the axe two-handed. Not stronger. So the only way I could fix it was to make a mod of my own which changes the vanilla damage of the axe by 1. Even raising it by one puts it into a balanced and normal spot. lower than an iron sword.

The unofficial patch doesn't change its damage, it only gives it the war axe keyword, so if you specialize in that type of weapon, it'll become more powerful than a sword. Otherwise, its damage is barely higher than an iron dagger.

Why would the patch alter the damage done by a woodaxe?, it was intentionally low level.

Well, *something* has spiked it's damage, and I haven't any mods with the purpose to do that, so I suspect it's a side effect to another mod somehow.

Huh, AFAIK it is classified as a 1H war axe, thus people having mastery and perks (modded one counts as well!) might have more damage with it.
