So Skyrim is getting new DLC?!?

Leak says Skyrim is getting new DLC. We may possibly have more MTX and paid DLC incoming. Oh boy! I actually hope this is either false or is a full expansion, but I won't hold my breath.

Bethesda Game Studios has been working on something for Skyrim, and we know this because of its Steam files. The evidence involves something called "Branches" and a lot of other technical jargon. All you need to know though is that Bethesda has been working on something with Skyrim that seemingly involves adding a Marketplace to the game, which would presumably involve paid mods as well.

Shouldn't they put energy and resources on the next game instead?

You would think so right? TBH my worst fear is all this ends up setting precedent and making it's way into TES:6 and it ends up loaded to the ceiling with paid mods and microtransactions because people keep buying this ♥♥♥♥.

Its not a matter of protecting your game from update, its a matter of splitting the modding community.

All bethesda has to do is announce updates in advance and limit the amount of updates per year to a few big ones and it would make help the community tremendously.

I mean if they added new DLC without updating the game (Just treat it like a mod) it would be fine.

yeah even if you tell steam never to update a game, it forces updates onto you. so theres nothing you can really do.. i think seriously bethesda does this intentionally to invalidate free mods so they can sell their paid mods.

Go to \Steam\steamapps and make the file appmanifest_489830.acf readonly. After that Steam is unable to update Skyrim. You can even manually hit the update button and it instantly fails.

what i dont get is that i have skyrim installed on a game disk and only adminsitrators can write files theres. yet somehow steam and vortex run as a normal user can still write there. I am a bit confused though.
