Skyrim SE no sound, subtitles or dialogues
Hey! I seem to have a weird Skyrim problem. The game itself runs very smoothly, but when I start a new game, there is no sound during the wagon cutscene, nor are there any subtitles. I can only see the lips moving of the other guy. Even if I ignore that, the game gets stuck when the cart arrives in town, where it gets stuck to the wall and no NPC does anything.

I did everything there was on the internet to fix it:
- updated both my audio and graphic drivers
- reinstalled DirectX multiple times
- checked for all windows updates
- tweaked with sound enhancements and speaker configuration
- deleted INI files in Documents folder
- maxed out sound volume in game, volume mixer, windows settings, etc.
- tried multiple different sound devices

I even tried to use Alternate Beginning mod, which helped me to get to the game, which from the gameplay point of view ran very smoothly, but there were still no sounds, and interactions with NPCs were just silent mouth readings...

All other games and apps work perfectly, without any sound issue.

Operating System: Windows 10 (newest update), 64-bit
Video Card Model: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with Max-Q Design
Screen Resolution: 1920 x 1080 (60Hz)
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz (12 CPUs), ~2.2GHz
RAM: 16 GB
No Mods
+ Fully installed .NET Framework 4.6, Visual Studio C++ 2015

I would really appreciate any help!

This happened to me when i had skyrim se installed on my second ssd. Try moving it to your main storage device where your OS is installed at. That fixed the issue for me.

Thx for the advice, but steam automatically put it on my main drive during installation, so I don't think that should be an issue

This is the path to all my steam games: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common

Can it be the source of the problem? Because it doesn't affect any other games

You've done quite a lot in order to fix it. Kudos for you. However, I'm missing one thing; verify the integrity of the game. Did you have tried it?

That you have installed the game in program files is not advised because (usually) modding may cause some panic at end user protection tools such as anti-virus software and/or user account settings. Yet by default, it should work flawlessly.

Since you're able to launch the game and have the intro scene is something. Since you're ingame but no sound/speech is given, it's plausible that your game is missing a resource file. This is configured in skyrim.ini @ "sResourceArchiveList" under "[Archive]". Ensure that these two here below is part of it;
Skyrim - Sounds.bsa, Skyrim - Voices.bsa

Well SSE is one of those games that doesn't like to be installed in program files ... and yes sound issues are among the issues resulting out of that.

Yes, I already tried verifying integrity, nothing out of order there. Also, I looked into Archive in Skyrim.ini, but it doesn't seem to me there is a problem

sResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes0.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes1.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa

sResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Voices_en0.bsa, Skyrim - Textures0.bsa, Skyrim - Textures1.bsa, Skyrim - Textures2.bsa, Skyrim - Textures3.bsa, Skyrim - Textures4.bsa, Skyrim - Textures5.bsa, Skyrim - Textures6.bsa, Skyrim - Textures7.bsa, Skyrim - Textures8.bsa, Skyrim - Patch.bsa

These two lines are there by default. Voices_en0.bsa seemed little off to me, but I checked in the data file, and the names match on all .bsa files
