The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition

Why does the Unofficial Patch ruin exploits.
Man idk how I never noticed before but man i hate how the Unofficial patch ruins so many good exploits the game has.

I love that it fixes broken quests and scripts etc, but did you REALLY need to take all the fun exploits out too? Was Soul Trap exploit hurting anyone? Was the Dawnstar Chest move really neccessary? Was patching Necromage such a sought after demand?"

And thats just the three i've found thus far, luckily i've found mods that UN fix these things but srsly, even the Oblivion Unofficial patch didnt remove the duplication glitch. They removed Dorian and Paint brush exploits but everything else was the same.

Idk i just wish they made a version that left the exploits alone. I know they're not for everyone but i liked them

Because Cheating and exploiting arent the same thing

Ethically they are. An exploit is just a cheat that doesn't have a rule against it yet. Like taking a shortcut in a race that the race officials forgot to mark off or didn't think anyone would use. Even though there may be no formal rule against it, you're still cheating because you're not following the spirit of the race.

And for the 4th time, using 'he' as a gender neutral noun is grammatically correct

It's grammatically correct when the gender is unknown.
Not necessarily, and it is unknown in the context of both cases.
It doesn't matter what Neloth knows, if he WANTS to mention Nerevarine in a gender-neutral way, using 'he' is reasonable.

Evidence is required that the choice of nouns was indeed a mistake and not stylistic choice.

Using "they" as a gender-neutral pronoun is also reasonable, why does it upset you so much?

Maybe in the 1960s or earlier... for modern times the correct gender neutral noun is they or them.... and even that's contraversial..... but nowhere near as calling everyone he.

Because it's not a bugfix, it's an unnecessary and not justified change.

No, it is still considered correct.
Not that it matters, even outdated language norms can be used intentionally for stylistic purposes.
An exploit is a sub-category of a bug. And the intent of USSEP is to fix bugs.
Thus it gets fixed.

Not-A-Cat! eredeti hozzászólása:
I think its wrong that USSEP ignores a chunk of the playerbase who like playing with exploits, simple as. If you disagree then we have to simply agree to disagree, but its clear that i am not the only one with this opinion.
Define "chunk". A quarter of the player base? 10% of it? Or less than 0.1%?
If you have troubles with the fixes that USSEP has introduced then you have two options
1. Don't use it
2. Open CK or xEdit and remove the edits made by the mod you see as harmful.
Also, why is there suddenly posts debating the use of proper gender noun? This ain't the place for them.

Uh, no. This wasn't an issue until the twitter brigade decided it was wrong just a few years ago and replaced it with twenty thousand possible choices with the "correct" one changing every few minutes.

However, despite theo's insistence otherwise, that is not what is happening in the USSEP. Each of the changes listed are for instances where the word used would clearly be incorrect even if the year was 1960. The assertion that it's a "stylistic" choice or that the speaker is doing it on purpose out of disrespect makes no sense at all and does not align with anything else in the conversations, characters, or the rest of the game world.

They are grammatical errors or could result in grammatical errors if the player used the other gender for their character. Why changing "he" to "they" in these cases to avoid this is so controversial as to cause him to recommend against using the USSEP, I don't know.

That's just one of the reasons I mentioned. Apparently it was controversial enough to get you triggered and flood the whole thread with fallacious nonsense.
No they aren't grammatical errors unless proven otherwise. And logically it cannot be proven, there's no way to know the writer's intention at this point. At best we could make a guess via analysis of how consistent these 'errors' are. In my opinion a guess isn't a good enough reason to intervene, and if there's at least one possible way for a 'text mistake' to make sense, it must be accepted as intentional, otherwise you're not fixing mistakes, you're changing text to match some false standard you had set up

It is much more hard to maintain even just two different versions. You've no idea how hard believe me.
Arthmoor has to be the special one who cant maintain more than one version and actively sabotage community by hiding old versions of his mods which are required for other peoples mods.

I agree. He is selfish. So what? Why is it important in this topic?

Do you want to say that his slefishness is the root reason of the problem we are discussing here?

I agree the unofficial patch shouldn't be fixing the glitches that must be actively performed. It's one thing to have a glitch that soft locks a quest, it's another to have a glitch that you must be trying specifically to perform.

even beside the people who want to find or use glitches, often these glitches are just silly and funny as ♥♥♥♥ unique only to Bethesda games. The free trainers for example, it makes all the sense that the guy will have the money in his inventory, obviously, where else would it go? The glitch almost makes the game world more realistic, but it's also hilarious that he can't refuse you from taking the money back. If a mod makes it so the money disappears instead of going to the trainer, then that just works like another normal game and less like a Bethesda game to me. In this case I feel like a genuine fix would be to make it so that if you then take the money trainer goes hostile on you or something.

I do think that the unofficial patch goes too far in certain ways but I don't care much about it either. It's not like that it's hard requirement to play the game, I can just uninstall it if I want to do an exploit playthrough.

I think they fixed Necromage because it's basically the same exploit as the fortify restoration loop (not to the same extend tho). Personally I'm fine with fixing the resto loop, enchanting, alchemy and smithing are strong enough without the resto loop, to avoid saying overpowered.

Biggest issue with the mod is the author tbh, who constantly removes the old versions, takes the mod off, insults people on Reddit who are unhappy with a specific fix, reports people who release an unfix and whatever.
