Enchanting stuck at 0

so i've recently decided to get stuck right into skyrim i've wanted to for years, just never had the time, I'm level 30 and i decided to start leveling / using enchanting but it seems it's stuck at level 0 ? is this supposed to be like that? (i doubt it as the skills in the tree say it requires 20/30/40 etc

If its a bug is there a way to fix this ?

How many items have you enchanted? are you disenchanting items? have you try training with a trainer? Have you read any enchanting books that increase the skill?

about 15 items
Yes im Disenchanting Items
No haven't come across an Enchanting Trainer yet
No i haven't read any books.

it's reached 1 twice but never levelled up

I am hung up on the skill being 0. No skill should be 0 (unless MAYBE you went legendary on it).

Did you ever do any command lines in the console?

Maybe Showracemenu to change your Race or looks or Sex? That messes up skills.

Edit: Check your magic menu active effects for anything in Red. I think we need to find the cause which may be a diesese or something (Brain Rot?)

Even legendary resets a skill to 15. I don't think it's possible to have a skill lower than 15 period

That's what I thought, but wasn't sure. Didn't have any on my current playthrough yet so I couldn't check. REAL hesitant to trust my memory.

I didnt think it was possible to hit 0 either let me check my effects, and no i never touched the command line console, im working on achievement's so been keeping it vanilla as possible

Yes, exactly = no skill should be zero.

no no debuff's so to speak just fortify buffs from backpack or the mothers love and shrine of talos

No mods. Well I'd start a new game and see if it persists.

Not sure what happened, but i started enchanting some items again and it jumped in level again seem's to have corrected it'self

I just had this situation happen to me and what fixed it for me was finding the skillpoint book for Enchantments and it finally went to 1 and I was able to keep raising the skill level like nothing had originally happened
