Trying to connect to Bethesda.net (solved)
Bought AE a few months back, finally decided to give it a go and have over 250 hrs in. initially when it prompted for me to download, it did not connect and I just assumed that all the data was through steam and the download prompt or bethesda servers just were not a thing anymore. Fast forward to today, I decided to discover Myrwatch for the first time, even though I had thoroughly been through the area. I figured I missed it, so off I went only to discover a big rock and no tower.

It turns out I do not have any creation club material enabled, even though the in game installed otion shows myrwatch and many other creation club items as installed. After having spent some time in Avrie's Old Fart's Coffee House trying to figure it out, it seems I missed an important d/l from bethesda net. For the life of me I can not figure out how to make this work, I turned off windows firewall completely. I am trying to understand how to port forward on my att wireless router but am not sure if it is my ip address or theirs that I need to input and if it is theirs, what that might be.

I put a ticket in but figured id drop this here anyways in case someone has been through this and can help walk my ignorant orc butt through. Any help would be very appreciated.

I was going to buy the anniversary update but to be honest you can get over 90% of it by installing mods since its mainly a mod pack disguised as a dlc. I already have so much extra mod content loaded up that it would be mostly redundant anyways.

I have never really gotten the mod/ui bug in my gaming. Give me the vanilla version or how the game was meant to be and I am happy. Of course getting blown up in pvp by mass boxers or competing for content with same can be discouraging. I suppose if I knew then what I knew now, I might be more open to figuring it all out.

Appreciate your input.

For many games mods are not really needed and typically for when you beat the vanilla game and want something more. However with skyrim even on your very first play through mods are nearly essential for the expanded graphics and visuals and gameplay and other refinements and overall fixes you wish were there at the start. The USSEP patch linked at the top of the forums is one of those as it fixes sooooo much annoyingly broken stuff that was never fixed. Luckily for SE they added in a built in mod loader that ensures no hassle installs and removals unlike what is needed for the most comprehensive mods you find on sites like nexus. The selection isn't nearly as good but it has all the essentials like better texture mods along with the popular followers like Sophia(recommended for even a newbie she is so well designed) or Inigo or Lucien and tons of content like fully voiced side and major quests along with entire new land areas that in some cases are almost as big as the vanilla game. Lots of lore and flavor tweaks too that greatly expand the immersion.

Do you already have a Bethesda account? If yes, start your game, In the startup menu choose "CREATION CLUB". Now you will have to login to your Bethesda Account. Bethesda will already be aware that you have purchased the full AE upgrade and you will be able to download every CC mod or just the ones you want. You can always download other CC mods later. Be sure to run Skyrim in Steam Online mode, at least when you want to download the additional CC content, otherwise it won't work.

The game is great as is and if there was more of it I am totally open to that. I usually do not care for third party in any part of my life, I dont have bank accounts or credit cards to name but a few things I do without, by choice.

Ill check out the in game mod option but I can only assume I am going to have the same issue there that I am having with the creation club content, I can not connect to bnet to download the files. In my twenty five years of online gaming, I do not ever recall a time where I had to jump through this many hoops. Well, maybe early days of EQ but that was frontier type stuff, its 2022 for crying out loud.

Thanks again for the input, hopefully I can figure all this out so I can explore additional content.

Thanks again, responded in the other thread to you as well. Yes I now have the account but I still can not even connect to where it will ask for that information. I managed to get the game to ask for that once today and at the time I did not have the account. Now that I do, I cant figure out how to get it it to connect to ask for the info.

What Hazak suggested in the other thread, are you from Eastern Europe? I didn't have that idea, since Zhutuak is Basque.

That is pretty much where I am at. If I could figure out what bnet ip address is, perhaps inputting that into my router exceptions might help. My windows firewall I turned off until I get this downloaded but I imagine my router may be giving me problems. On the bnet article about the exceptions, it never tells you what ip address to input so I figured I was supposed to input mine, which doesnt make any sense to me. Needless to say, it hasnt worked. So I am hoping someone here might have an answer or cs eventually helps me out.

Thanks for jumping in.

Networking is not my thing, so I hope someone with more networking experience will jump in. Good luck, Zhutuak. Still very welcome in the Coffee House!

Much appreciated, you folks have been super kind.

I think its something up with their overall servers because now I can't access the mods menu selection on the main screen. They have not been doing well financially lately so who knows if they are paying the bills on time or moved to a cheaper less reliable server farm.

Got disconnected in the middle of helping you in the other thread.

We have basically went through just about everything. On top of that I have actually installed the Anniversary DLC on several separate occasions over 3 different PC's and for several load orders as i work on my SSE guides. I mention that because I have never had an issue installing/setting it up. That said this does not mean there are not issues with it as we have seen while helping folks here in the Forums and those I've helped as related to my guides.

I'm still checking on your situation regardless. Also, it's good you opened a dedicated thread for this as that makes it much easier to keep track of your progress which hopefully will be actual progress and soon.

Windows key + R opens the run command.

Type cmd and hit enter.

A black command line box will open. Type:

ping bethesda.net

If you do not get a response then there is no connection path to their servers.

Next I would try a I P N network connection (its not called an IPN... steam rules...) and see if that helps. If you still can't get through on an IPN then likely the issue is on your end.
