Because in the next games, the protagonist is barely mentioned. Neloth mentions the nerevarine once. In oblivion the nerevarine is mentioned once and rumoured to have disappeared on a trip to akavir.
Bethesda tries to not make any canon reference to the previous protagonist, they get one line at best and nobody knows or remembers their race or gender.
The dragonborn will vanish in some way shape or form, the civil war outcome will be unclear or irrelevant because something will happen that makes it irrelevant (a new war with thalmor starts or something). That's how Bethesda operates, they dont make any canon decisions for the protagonists.
The only thing canon the protagonists do is the main quest and the DLC main quests. The protagonist doesn't become the leader of the guilds or do guild quests. In canon those events happen, but they are all done by different people.
The dragonborn is also not related to the emperor. The emperors were dragonborn, yes, but there were many dragonborn that weren't emperors or related to that bloodline.
And the emperor doesn't need to be dragonborn anymore since the events of oblivion.
So most all of that post is much ado about nothing. It all really just seems to boil down to you not wanting players to progress to be extremely powerful(which is a hallmark of all the ES games to date) and that you want to player's main character to die specifically at the end of each game vs the implied occurrences during denouement in time gaps between games.
Sorry but that seems more or less your wants not matching the history and reality of the games to date.
And all of that has nothing to do with people's use of nor the devs support(or lack of support in some cases) mods.
All this on your part seems just a bit silly, really.
The dragonborn has no right to rule. Emperors don't need to be dragonborn anymore, that's been over for 200 years. Being dragonborn doesn't mean you are entitled to emperor.
I think you are confused about the fact if you don't join the Thieves Guild before completing the code book quest it can lock you out of the Thieves Guild. But if you join both guilds first or generally don't handle the quest badly then you won't have any issues. Also you can do the Thieves guild first up until doing the Bitter Cup quest and then it will bypass it entirely.
If you are meaning about how you can't become master of the Fighters Guild without killing the Thieves Guild... maaaaybe you should consider if doing work for someone who gives such orders is a good idea compared to others in the guild.
The Nerevarine can not only be the leader of both the Fighter's and Thieves guilds at the same time, but can also be the leader of the Mage's Guild, an Operative of the Blades, Grandmaster of 2 Great Houses (taken the 2nd is not intended), top dogs of the Imperial Cult, Tribunal Temple, Imperial Legion, East Empire Company and Morag Tong. And of course you are both the Nerevarine of the Ashlander tribes and Hortator of the Great Houses.
Could be reality if they take Dawnguard as canon.. Ie, Dragonborn is a vampire, but i can imagine that would be rather.. controversial... Not everyone plays that way, and it would be a significant break from the vagueness TeS usually has on past events.
Beyond that? Maybe Akatosh makes them immortal (would be an unexpected twist) but i can't think of many ways to incorporate that into the next game in a suitable way....
Settles down with a family?
Lives as a hermit?
Goes off in search of more quests?
Goes evil like Miraak? (too much irony on that one)
ehhh....
If they did suggest that Akatosh made them immortal, i imagine it'll be done like it is for the Grey Warden in Dragon Age Inquisition; send them a letter and get a reply, and maybe a special item along with it.
oh well, im going off track....
------
The civil war is going to play a part depending on the story and province. How big a part we will not know until the game is revealed, but it will surely be more than a passing mention if the Thalmor feature to any marked extent.
The Dragonborn won't be mentioned in *that* conflict however, unless it is required for the story to work (ie, the DB picks the wrong side and TeS6 quest is to kill them, or they become the Emperor or whatever)
More likely you'll be considered as "backup" by any books/lore and there won't be any mention specifically of the Dragonborn...
I could easily be wrong though!....
....But then, the Elder Scrolls series has always been vague on past characters, it's never 1 person doing everything. You are basically known as a title (like the Champion is), the major factions are just "someone did this" rather than you specifically.
The Emperor, regardless of whether your Dragonborn joins the Dark Brotherhood or not, will be dead in the next game, it just won't be said it was by the Dragonborn.
So, the DB's actual story will be the main quest, potentially some links from the DLC's, and at a stretch, one or 2 of the CC quests, but it'll only be things that don't force "good or evil" on them.
They 99% (imo) won't be a vampire, werewolf, Dawnguard or join any factions like the Thieves Guild or Mages College.
Those quests will all likely be mentioned, but only via "the Thieves Guild took back Riften and exposed the Guildmaster" or "the Dawnguard wiped out a castle of vampires on the north end of Skyrim" and things like that.
Same reason people cheat in online games. They think it's fun and makes them seem "epic" (even if they look like a total idiot in the eyes of everyone else in the battle or server).
Nexus is full of such mods, "i made an OP sword" or cheat chests filled with end game items accessible from the start etc..
ihateeverybody a definition of a bloodline up too the 3th era will not be so easily discarded. especialy by the bloodline that recently surpassed it. chosen or not the dragonblood still holds power in the empire, merely look at their insignia
marbuel thats the problem i have with it, with the amount of influance the dragonborn has every plot begins and ends with *and then the dragon born won and it was super cool!* their failure could be a lot more intresting then their victory.
psychotron666 another problem if your trying not too mention the deeds of past protagonists is that when they do all these major events, none of them are allowed too effect the story in the next game. you want them too ignore the dragons, the civil war and the dark brotherhood in the next game?
no i dont want all protegonists too die, i want them too have a story that can be told in the next game.
ragnarokia you are incorrect, source: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Remove_the_Heads_of_the_Thieves_Guild
I also reside in the camp that thinks Sadia will play a big role. I continue to think that we may see children of Skyrim, all grown up and busting heads in TES6.
Braith as the new Lydia?
