I can't click anything after closing the game
As the title says, I can't seem to be able to click anything on my screens after closing the game. I usually have Discord maximized on my 2nd screen and Cookie Clicker running in the background, minimized, and I can't click anything.

I suspect this is somehow due to Skyrim closing, because it's the only game it's happening with, along with Windows 11 being buggy (because that really looks like a Windows issue aswell).

The only workaround I've found is to hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up the Windows menu and click (well "click" heh... More like "use the down arrow key") to select "Disconnect" and reconnect into my Windows session, which basically feels like I restart my PC...

The only mods I have is SkyUI and the Achievement Enabler plugin that were manually installed, though I don't think they're the cause of the problem.

Has anyone encountered that bug too? Thx.

Do you mean the game stays forced on top of everything else even when minimising it? It is a common issue with full screen games that don't shut down properly and can sometimes require resetting the computer if nothing else works. Outside of not having them full screen / having the game full screen on a second monitor I am unsure how to fix stopping this issue all together.

No, the game closes normally, it's nowhere to be found in the task manager, I just can't click anything after...

Bump, that actually looks like a Windows issue, I just closed the game and encountered the bug, I had my Steam Library behind Skyrim so I ended up looking at it, the top buttons like Store/Library/etc. seem to be clickable but nothing actually happens, on my second screen I had Discord maximized, it seemed to work fine but the taskbar on my second screen looked completely frozen.
I alt+tabbed to look at Cookie Clicker, and it was the same as Steam: seemingly clickable buttons but nothing happened when I clicked, so I had to hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and disconnect/reconnect...

Again, this only happens with Skyrim, which makes it even weirder...

This is a long shot but, turn off Steam Cloud for Skyrim SE.

When you exit Skyrim SE normally, for a brief period, Steam will write information (the play button will remain blue) until the save file is uploaded by the Steam Cloud service. Depending on a persons setup and/or network capabilities, this can cause Steam to lockup for a period of time.

Additionally, you can possibly try clearing your Steam download cache. At the top of the Steam window:
select Steam > Settings > Downloads > select 'Clear Cache.'

This is such a strange bug, but I have this exact same issue and my only work-around I've found was also to ctrl+alt+del after closing the game.

One of my SSE modlist has this problem, another doesn't. But I don't know which mod causes/fixes this problem.:steamfacepalm:

Well list the mods on each load order, and it will be one of the ones on the buggy load order but not the other....

Both of these are causing issues at the moment, it could be either....
and since SkyUI needs SKSE64, make sure you have the right version of SKSE64.
And that you are launching the game via skse64.

It's not a mod problem, it also happens with vanilla Skyrim. Happens with Fallout 4, too. Been happening to me since Windows 7, never found a fix besides logging out of my windows user and back in. I put about 1000 hours in Fallout 4 before any mods, and it's been a problem for me since the very early days. :c

Possible minor solution to anyone else experiencing this. Whenever this happens to me I right click and it seems to allow me to interact with everything again. Not sure if this works for everyone but it's the only thing I've gotten to work.

I've only ever had this happen with Bethesda games.
This is happening with Doom The Dark Ages every time I exit the game.

The same for me in Windows 11 after Dark Ages. I haven't found the solution yet.
