Legendary Edition, Anniversary Edition?
You see this often! But, there is no Legendary or Anniversary Edition! Naming updates and patches as such is just Bethesda marketing, nothing more, nothing less. Just take a look at the versioning system, and it will be clear that there are only 2 versions of the game: 32-bit Skyrim and 64-bit Skyrim (Skyrim Special Edition or Skyrim SE).

32-bit Skyrim: versions 1.1 thru 1.9. Version 1.6 is required to run the Dawnguard DLC, version 1.7 to run the Hearthfire DLC and 1.8 to run the Dragonborn DLC. So, version 1.8 and/or 1.9 have been called Legendary Edition, but still versions 1.8 and 1.9 are only updates or patches of 32-bit Skyrim.

64-bit Skyrim or Skyrim SE: versions 1.1 thru 1.6. Version 1.5, in particular 1.5.97, added support for CC content. Version 1.6 added additional support for CC content and various patches/updates. Version 1.6 added 4 CC mods to the base game, but only buying the full upgrade gave the additional 70+ CC mods, and these additional CC mods are called the Anniversay Edition DLC (AE DLC).

Regrettably many mod authors and developers have started to call the 1.6 version of the game the Anniversary Edition, when it's just an update of the 64-bit version of the game, adding more confusion to Bethesda's marketing.

Be keen, and check your Skyrim (SE) version before downloading and installing mods! If a mod author or developer is not clear about which version their mod supports, ASK!

I don't think I've ever seen anyone say there is no LE.... It was a marketing thing, but there is a distinct difference between Oldrim with the DLC and Oldrim without.... some mods require the DLC for a start.

Meanwhile I'm unaware of any mods that require all the CC mods to work, or require any in fact (not saying there aren't any, just I don't know of them).... and while mods say they need AE, they actually mean SE version 1.6 or higher.... the actual AE bundle is optional...

Actually there is no LE! 32-bit SK 1.6 supports Dawnguard, 1.7 supports Hearthfire, 1.8 supports Dragonborn, but none of the versions 1.6 thru 1.9 needs those DLCs and you could very well do without.

Mods requiring DLCs, either for the 32-bit or the 64-bit version, doesn't mean a thing. Even for Skyrim SE 1.6.x you can create a mod that only requires Skyrim.esm ( and in the same way for 32-bit Skyrim), or only for Skyrim.esm and Hearthfires.esm, or whatever combination.

Not sure I understand what you're saying. What do you mean "there is no LE"? Legendary Edition was the release after Original Skyrim - which contained no DLC. The DLC was released separately for the Original 2011 version of the game. Legendary Edition was then released in June of 2013 and contain all 3 DLC. LE and Original Skyrim were both 32-bit. Sorry if I'n misinterpreting what you're saying, but I'm really not understanding the points of your posts.

The point of my post is that LE and AE are just Bethesda marketing things. The latest update for Oldrim was the 1.9.32.0.8 patch on 20 March 2013 for PC, although just a minor patch. Major patch was 1.9.26.0.8 released on 4 March 2013. Whatever was released in June 2013 was just the latest patch (1.9.32.0.8) including all DLCs, which Bethesda called Legendary Edition, for anyone who hadn't bought any of the DLCs before.

Legendary Edition was just a marketing bundle, there was and is no Legendary Edition version of original Skyrim. Think of it as the Oldrim style "Anniversary Edition" borked and bungled information and understanding. In fact, about a year before Oldrim was pulled from the Steam search, the LE bundle was pulled from sale, and only the base game and individual DLCs were offered - no bundles.
