Juggernaut worth it?
Hey guys,
i`m playing Skyrim again after many years. I remember that theres an armor cap at 567. I´m currently wondering if I should invest perk points in Juggernaut because I´m playing on master difficulty with the survival mode and I take lots of damage at the moment.
Should I invest some points in heavy armor to reach the cap earlier?

Thanks :)

I always invest at least 3 points in it(I think you need 2 or 3 points in it to reach armor cap while using smithing and everything to increase your armor rating). Remember that after you complete the Dragonborn DLC, you can get your perk points back so you can invest less points into Heavy Armour if you wish.

Also the Lord Stone will increase armor rating and magic resistance, so that's good to grab early game

Ahh thank you. I thought you can reach the armor cap just by smithing

Yes, all you need is smithing, the armor bonus perks are useless, just get the first 20% boost to unlock the others, like no carry weight for heavy armor.

Edit: They can be useful, if you go for a no smithing run. Daedric armor, all armor boosts, lord stone, stone skin, you will reach like 570

There are many ways to reach the armor cap. You could do it with perks or without them. There is no such thing as "the best way to do it".

And BTW the armor cap is 667 with no armor pieces, 642 with one armor piece, 617 with two, 592 with three, 567 with four and 542 with five i.e. with four and a shield.

I would just use Alteration for armor.

If you get Farkas as a follower you can ask him to teach you heavy armor and then take the gold back out of his inventory which will help speed up the leveling.

Thanks guys :)
At the moment I´m Level 7 and have 116 armor. My consideration at first was not to spend any points in heavy armor and to reach the armor cap with smithing and daedric armor. Since I´m getting very much damage at the moment I´m thinking about investing in juggernaut though. I could get the perks back when heavy armor is at 100 and i make the skill legendary. What do you think?

I know. I have the oak flesh spell and use it sometimes before bosses. But its really magicka expensive and I didnt plan to invest points in alteration

Do you mean the game only recognizes 567, because I have have hit a armor rating of well over 1500 when I use the workbench and potions while boosting up armors. Having a score of 100 and all perks in the light armor tree also helps.

once you go over 567 (or the higher numbers depending on what your wearing) it basically treats you as having 567, regardless of whether you have 600 or 1000.
So, anything above that is effectively useless.

That is how i understand it anyway

It is as good plan as any. Of course Enchanting + Alchemy + Smithing trio makes it easier to achieve the cap. But also it takes more effort, time and perks to train all three skills.

Only works if you are playing without USSEP.
