Witcher I'm not entirely sure. The main character is awful, and the game is a giant slog of grind fest. But I guess witcher is also aimed at a wider audience who has a voice acted Mary Sue main character so I guess people really like that. God I hope Bethesda doesn't go that route, the voiced main character of fallout 4 was imo the biggest detriment of that game, as it bled over into the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ass dialogue system which ruined the game and the franchise IMO.
But it worked for Wild Hunt why not sequel to Skyrim? They could of done better F4?
I liked Witcher 3. And would have Loved fallout 4 if it didn't crash so much.
You mention 3 outstanding games OP. Can't go wrong with any of them and I've played all 3. I guess, as always, it depends on what you like.
My character in that game also looked like some creepy Halloween character. Couldn't see her skin under the mass of tattoo's
(And yes, my avatar here is from that game
Skyrim has it's own charm, and if you hadn't have noticed, it had some updates to bring it up, and then it's been left for modders to play with.
GTA has devolved to Online spam modes and R* (and take2) haven't made a game since Red Dead and V....
I couldn't get into TW3.. i did play it a bit, but i just couldn't connect with the Geralt so the story didn't absorb me like other games.. Even GTA Online somehow held me to it's meager story better
IDK, the more i play around with Fallout4, the more i like the voiced character... Makes it feel more alive? i guess?
I got more dialogue mods so they actually speak more outside of just the dialogue scenes.
Some games work with voices, and others don't, and ofcourse that's always going to be individual preference. I don't think Dragon Age Origins would have been anywhere near as good if it had a voiced Grey Warden, but at the same time, others will believe it would have been a better game... But, who is "right" really?
marketing - skyrim is 2011 games...it got re-released in 2016 but the graphic sucks
accessibility - gta 5 is far more stable than skyrim
game discount - skyrim took years to reach discount 50% of sales, todd knew this game sold well, so he rarely put discount on skyrim
mainstream games - GTA 5 is like fifa or cod games that people just keep buying because they rarely caused bug and just plug in...play the game
game play - skyrim gameplay is basically repetitive - please dont mention mods here
game development - took 5 - 10 years to make...this will affect people to ignore any news abt it
witcher 3 - only sold well because it has good marketing, the price is super cheap when it got sales, i got it for 14$ in steam, it has better graphics, sex, better gameplay, performance wise and it also available for free sometimes in some stores, thats why it sold well
when i enter gaming world, i never heard of elderscrolls, i only heard GTA games, COD games and FIFA
That is a very interesting question. On one hand the numbers don't lie but on the other
what bets are you placing?
The leap of Skyrim is not so vast in looks from ES 4?What do people prefer best?
What RPG is better?
For me, Dragon Age Origins will always remain the "best" one. It just did everything right for me...
For RPG purposes, even if you go back 20+ years and look at Dungeon Siege, it does it better than Skyrim because Skyrim isn't in the same Genre. It's not an RPG in the classic sense of one.
Yes the main quest could be considered comparable to the Warden or the farmer from "DS", but those games you follow the story, whereas Skyrim it's a sandbox, you never need to touch it yet can get 200+ hours out of a character. The "Role" and the "Play" is whatever you make it.
So, to answer your question, every RPG is better, because Skyrim isn't really an RPG to begin with.
(You can argue it is, but to suggest your roleplaying a character is enough to class it as one would be a bit of a stretch. You could apply the same to virtually every game that has a main character, even some Need for Speed's could claim that...)
1 Morrowind
2 Skyrim
3 Oblvion
both in terms of base game and mods not sure why but Oblvion is lacking on the mod front compared to both other modren entries of the franchise.
even in terms of whats being released. morrowinds still very active so's skyrim oblvions a trickle.
never played arena and my daggerfall run didnt go very well
As for RPG? BG2 for exemple, Neverwinter Night 1&2. Icewind Dale games with Mods that add companions? Become a real RPG and not a hack'n Slash Dungeon Siege.
As for the Atari. It's still Alive. To me that's better than 'Selling Gazillions of copies'. Especially since it was the 1st console we had lol
And finally...
Oblivion was the best to me. I still have to finish it, maybe one day. Morrowind was the 1st of elder scroll I tried? And that was modding was like we have today. I remember trying one mod back then that added Kids to the world.
I say I found Morrowind horribly depressing and confusing. I couldn't be assed to get into it at all. Too muddy, same one song play on and on and on. And those voices? Urgh.
But if Morrowind had a facelift today? I think Skyrim would be history. Because both Morrowind and Oblivion can own Skyrim. They both had their pros and cons.
Oblivion had the best story and atmosphere to it. Morrowind seem like it was very Lore heavy oriented. Loved the architecture though. And those giant animal for safe Travel? Was dissapointed when they never came back in Oblivion. And those houses?

And these guys? Lol

And Oblivion had color and life to it.
But Skyrim? It's pretty. But it's missing the Soul.
