Any good mod compilation?
Do you guys know a really good mod compilation? Or wich mods do you use to get the perfect skyrim (SE)? :)
They should be compatible with each other.

tucoguide https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/10694 is nice, both as a modlist and a general how-to guide. Project Step and Nordic are good guides as well (you will need to google them).

The pinned topics in this forum are an amazing resource on pretty much every aspect of modding this game, and when you run into problems a keyword search in the forums will frequently give you the answers you need quickly.

There are no mod compilations for Skyrim or Skyrim SE.

There are several guides for modding on these forums, CFS did one recently, which broke down the mods into sections and had troubleshooting. But whether it's perfect is debatable, and it's a large mod list, so might not be ideal for everyone, but you could choose which mods you want, and leave out the ones you don't.
Ok, thanks guys. :)

one the library page when you select skyrim SE, there is a tab labelled community guides, it's in there with about a million others.
Sorry I can't get a link to it, I did try.

As for CFS, it's part of the authors user name, cfs111.

There are so many mods available that you need to test them yourself to figure out which ones are best for You personally. It is, however, advisable to treat modding as a multi-step process:

Step 1: Get a mod manager. Some people prefer Vortex, others like Mod Organiser 2. Both will allow you to install and uninstall mods safely, as well as de-activate individual mods without uninstalling them (for comparison purposes)

Step 2: Install an Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch, SKSE, SkyUI and PapyrusUtil. These are needed for very many other mods.

Step 3: Install a weather mod and an interior lighting mod. There are many to choose from, so you'll need to do a lot of testing :) . But it's worth it, because those let you control light levels, night and dungeon darkness, colour intensity etc, so they affect the look of the game a Lot.

Step 4: Install some mesh improvers and retextures . The most common ones are 2K. There are "general ones", ones for trees, ones for grasses, and ones for faces. These are the most "fiddly" in terms of compatibility with each other, so a mod manager is Priceless at this stage.

Step 5: Install any other mods you want - gameplay, animations, interface, etc. Should have no compatibility problems, unless you choose ones that modify the exact same thing. Use your common sense :)

I think that mod compilations (from other authors, that is -- you can make compliations from your own stuff) are not allowed on Nexus Mods.

To your second question, here's some of my favorite mods along with some explanations! Overall, I tried to be as conservative as possible, preferring only to install mods to "fix" things. Doing this, I still ended up with over 60 mods (lol).

GRAPHICAL
- WICO: My favorite character mod. It's quite conservative, meaning it looks a lot like the base game, just better. Make sure to check "remove flush faces" or else it does look weird, like everyone has a lot of makeup on instead of living in the harsh climate of Skyrim.
-Ordinary Women: Unlike WICO, this does deviate quite a bit from Bethesda's work -- however, imo it fits in perfectly with the tone of Skyrim (they look attractive but weathered). Downside is people like arcadia, danica and silda suddenly become younger, which is particularly bad in Silda's case since several of her voice lines, as well as her voice overall, allude to her being old.
-RSChildren: children in base game are fugly. This mod [perhaps goes a bit too far and] makes them look like something out of a Gap Kids catalogue.
-SMIM: probably the most obvoius choice for general graphical improvement.
-HavokFix64: an amazing mod that's required for anyone with a monitor that has greater than 60hz refresh rate. Eff you, 60 fps cap!

HUD
-SKYUI: the most obvoius mod to install. Note that even when I play on TV with a controller I still use SKYUI for inventory, becasue even then it's better, but not for crafting or looting.
-SKYHUD and immersiveHUD: Former is for tweaks because I can get a bit anal about my HUD, and latter is to, well, make the game more immersive by hiding as many HUD elements as I can without making it become too annoying. In particular, I can get rid of the crosshair, as long as I use...
-Scoped Bows SE: perhaps weird to include this in the HUD section, but for me it is, since it's what allows me to get rid of the crosshair.

QoL
-Horse Whistle: Buying a horse is a lot more worthwhile when you can actually summon it.
-Immortal Followers: I was reluctant to install this at first cuz "mah immersion," but without this mod, the correct thign to do when a follower is downed is to run away so that neither you nor an enemy accidentally attacks the downed follower, which is equally, if not moreso, non-immserive. With the mod, they just stay downed and you can continue fighting.
-USSEP: perhaps the first mod I should have mentioned, since I just plain can't think of a reason to not install a mod that just fixes bugs.
-Silence of Skyrim: I literallhy just use this to remove one thing: "acivation fail," so that I can spam the interact button when I'm harvesting e.g. potatoes.

edit: can't believe it but I called the site Vortex. Shame :P

Console generation on PC SMH. 'Can someone put together a package of mods so I don't have to think for myself?"

Good God, people, PCs offer such freedom to explore these options, take advantage of them and stop thinking of them as iPhones that do everything for you.

There is no "one bunch of mods everyone uses". Everyone who mods uses different mods. There are maybe 3-5 mods that "a lot of people" use as a basis to build from (Unofficial Patch, stuff like that), but beyond that, everyone has a different mod list.

Put down the energy drinks and spend some quality time with the concept of modding.

There actually are a few mod compilations here and there, mostly made up of outfits made by one modder.
One exception is Plasma Sabers, which is composed of a wide array of mods of different kinds which oddly combine elements inspired by Star Wars and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles along with gem forging and Big Cats of Skyrim.

oh, the person who just wants to complain about everything

isn't like people looking for new ideas and asking in forums about it, eh?

I stand corrected.

So SKSE, SkyUI and USSEP are pretty much a must when you want to install mods, but beyond that, I can really recommend all mods from Enai Siaion, like Ordinator, Apocalypse, Sacrosanct and Summermyst, he really makes impressive gameplay overhaul mods.

I can also recommend WICO, because it saves you from searching for lots of character makeover mods and just combines them all in one mod.

For better and more diverse loot I use Dynamic Dungeon Loot (DDL), Rebalanced Leveled Lists and Unique Loot.

I can also recommend Ultimate Combat SE and TKDodge, it gives a new feel to Skyrim's fighting system.

XP32MSSE is a pretty dope mod and also requirement for many other mod, also it lets you have your sword and shield on back so that's cool.

FNIS is another basic mod that's needed for animation mods, e.g. Immersive Animations, which overhauls Skyrim's animations but keeps their vanilla feel.

Zim's Immersive Artifact overhauls daedric and ancient artifacts as well as nightingale stuff and the weapons from the nine holds. Pretty cool imo, and balanced nicely.

Warzones is a nice mod if you want some more war in Skyrim, I mean there's a civil war and you never see people fighting.

SMIM overhauls most static meshes, e.g. it makes chains 3D instead of 2D or improves the overall look of barrels.

Cutting Room Floor just adds cut content back in the game, but it's pretty cool too.

Immersive Armors and Immersive Weapons provide more variety in, who would've guessed, armors and weapons, so that's pretty dope.

The People of Skyrim is also pretty cool, it just adds so much stuff and overhauls entire cities, imo it's a must have mod.

Beasts of Tamriel adds many lore-friendly monsters, animals and beasts, such as weresharks, treeants or hippogryphs.

Personally I think that in Skyrim, your race choice doesn't really impact your playstyle anymore, so Character Creation Overhaul and Imperious fix that problem. CCO brings back the classes and birthsigns from Oblivion and Imperious completely overhauls racial abilites. But don't use the permanent birthsigns option from CCO with Andromeda, because it removes standing stones so you can't change the birthsigns.

At last, some minor improvements that aren't really necessary, but I really like them:

- Sovngarde Font Replacer
- 360 Walk and Run Plus
- Alternate Conversation Camera
- Apophysis Dragon Priest Masks
- Colored And Animated Celtic Icons For SkyUI
- Rich Skyrim Merchants
- Septim Not Gold
- Better Roads
- TESG Loadscreen Replacer
- The Paarthunax Dilemma
- moreHUD SE

And there you have it.
