Cannibalism Without Namira?
Does anyone know of a mod that allows you to become a cannibal without having to complete Namira’s quest and/or owning and equipping the ring?

I’m trying to do a Green Pact Bosmer character and according to the lore, Bosmer are more-or-less required to consume their humanoid combat kills within three days.

As it stands in vanilla, the only way you can become a cannibal is to complete Namira’s Daedric quest, get Namira’s ring, and equip it.

I don’t want to do Namira’s quest, nor do I want to have to have the ring equipped in order to cannibalize someone.

Currently, I used the console command to get myself the ring and have been doing it that way, but are there any mods that give you the ability without the ring?

I know there’s that Imperious Races mod that gives Bosmer the race power to cannibalize, but a) I don’t want all the other changes, and b) Imperious doesn’t play nice with some other mods. I also know there’s a mod that gives you the ability to be a cannibal from the start, but my character is already 20+ hours into the game so I don’t think that mod can work on an already started playthrough.

Any ideas/suggestions?

you could use "CACO" - Complete alchemy and cooking overhaul, which allows harvesting of flesh as a option in the settings. By default it's set to vanilla (ie, quest and ring) but you can set it to no requirements and harvest it without the quest or ring. You simply require a dagger.

I don't know if it'll let you actually "feed" like a werewolf from a corpse, but it will allow the collection of flesh for your bosmer.
I also don't know how well it will play adding it to an existing playthrough.. I don't do that, i always start a new game, whether it's a big mod or just a texture so i can't say if it'll be ok or not. (id wager not, given how big caco is)

Didn’t work. After entering the command it says in the console that a cannibal perk was added but I still can’t do it without wearing the ring.

Green Pact only affect those within Valenwood.
While Bosmer elsewhere try to honour the Greenpact they would not be forced to consume their enemies

Taking the ring off removes the perk. You have to do the commands with the ring off and never put it on again

How it works in game when you put the ring on it adds the perk and when you take it off it removes the perk

Doesn't the Green Pact also applies to animals?

I don’t think so, I’m not sure.

I know there’s something called a “Meat Mandate”, but I think that only applies to their eating habits - meaning they cannot consume anything made from plants.

From what I can tell, they’re only allowed to consume meat from animals and the humanoid/beast races, some animal byproducts like milk and honey, and fungi.

I didn’t see anything about there being a rule that they MUST eat animals they kill, I think they just do it anyways given that they’re hunters and meat is their main source of food.

The thing I’m still not clear on is if they’re allowed to consume food, drink, or potions made with plants but not made by them.

Like - is it okay for them to order a drink of grain alcohol at an inn? Is it okay for them to drink potions made with plants as long as they’re buying it from an alchemist and not making it themselves?

The meat mandate is part of the Green Pact, no?

What I have read everywhere is that they cannot damage plantlife from Valenwood.
On the rare occasion they use wood, for example, they are able to buy it from others.
Outside Valenwood, they are allowed to damage plantlife, evident by Feandal cutting wood in Riverwood.
It would be reasonable to suggest they can do the same with plant based foods.
However, if they are able to ingest/consume it is something I am not sure about myself.

Good question.

Meat mandate means they can not allow meat they kill go to waste....
so they have to eat or at least process it (hence meat based alcohol)

But it's part of the Greenpact which only affects Valen wood itself, outside of valenwood it's observed as a matter of courtesy, but not enforced.

Meat mandate is part of the Green Pact, yes. However while still respected it generally diminished by the Second Era and is only followed in the most remote and savage villages. - War Customs of the Tribal Bosmer

"Its rules are clear. Do not harm the forests of Valenwood. Do not eat anything made from plant life. Eat only meat. When enemies are conquered, their meat must be eaten, not left to rot. Do not kill wastefully. Do not take on the shape of beasts." - The Green Pact and the Dominion

It also generally only applies to the Green (Valenwood) itself.
Eating fallen fruit etc. is apparently fine. Picking it is not.

"Indeed not—in fact, in this way the plant's seeds are spread. The second tenet you mention is better known as the Meat Mandate, but how strictly it is followed varies from tribe to tribe and, indeed, from individual to individual. However, dairy products, honey, mushrooms, and insects are eaten with zest by all but the most ultra-zealous of Pact Bosmer." - Gwaering answers your questions.
