...I've been stuck on this quest for days, on the step "Talk to Bassianus or Klimmek". Bassianus has no dialogue options to advance the quest and Klimmek is nowhere to be found. No quest arrow for either. Is this a bug?

That's a somewhat temperamental quest. You should talk to both of Fastred's parents to get the full story. Once you do that, you should talk to one of the suitors. Finally, there's a conversation that you need to observe before the quest advances. Check out this guide[en.uesp.net] for more details. "The man you speak with will then proceed to meet with Fastred; they'll have a brief conversation which you must observe to advance the quest and ensure Mara's work is done."

I think this is the part I'm missing, if I recall I spoke to the suitor at night and was unable to follow him inside due to the door being locked and I didn't want to start trouble. Thank you so much, this helped a lot!

My memory may be foggy because I haven't followed up on the quest in months, but I was tired of it clogging up my quest log so decided to look into it. I just remember the dude running off and not being able to follow so I shrugged and moved on to other stuff. But I am a pretty thorough player and try to see things through in one go so ::shrugs:: I will go mess around in that town for another fifteen minutes spamming the use-key on everyone until I get results I guess.

EDIT: So I went back during the daytime and Fellstar Farm was unlocked, went in and heard their conversation.

Klimmek is in Ivarstead, either in the inn or his farm..... or by the bridge...
