Edit: Yes i know the exceptions like the archmage's robes, but those can't be disenchanted either cause they are unique.
I haven't learned the enchantment yet, so it has to be the keyword thing, which means it's intentional. Thats a bummer, it would be so cool to have such powerful gear after so much enchanting, smithing and alchemy leveling.
I always assumed it was on purpose to try to force you to wear robes instead of armor as a mage.
