The courier didn't give me anything?

I started a new game and did the starting quests and went into Bleak Falls Barrow and when I came out and went back to Riverwood the courier ran up to me and said he had something for me... then didn't give me anything?

I'm playing the anniversary edition with only the unofficial patch and smim installed from the in-game mods menu.

EDIT: So yeah, it seems to just be a small issue with the zombie creation club content, plague of the dead I think it's called. This content is supposed to unlock at level 5 by way of the courier giving you a letter but for whatever reason he approaches you and then just says he doesn't have anything for you. But he does in fact hand you a letter, you just might have to reload your game if you get this weird bug.

It happens sometimes to me but I always find it when I check the inventory.

Check your letters, you may just be seeing something and thinking you have already read it.

Hmm, I think it may have been a slight bug? I swear I checked my letters just to make sure but found nothing new, but now there's an anonymous letter in my inventory that I didn't spot last time telling me about some necromancers. I think this is a creation club quest but maybe it didn't activate properly until I leveled up? Not sure, but I think that was the problem.

It also depends on the mods I know a few mods that deliver you items by courier

edit some things you get multiple times sometimes are marked as read for instance letters from Calcelmo

I was walking west of Windheim and I saw a Stormcloak courier running in that direction. He didn't respond to me and eventually he vanished after a Dark Brotherhood assassin showed up. It's like the second time that cult sent someone after me lol.

This is an issue with several of the Anniversary Edition letters. You have to dig through your inventory to see what's new. Easier if you try to keep it empty, but there are so many note quest items that even if you have every non-quest items stashed you can easily be carrying a lot of notes/books you can't drop.

Calcemo is a pest. "Hey brah I hear you found something shiney 5 minutes ago..... can I have it ?"
