Game won't Printscreen? (And no, Steam Screenshots doesn't count.)
I've been away from this game for a while, to my dismay, as I REALLY want to get back into it. However, I talk to my friends on Discord a lot, and I LOVE to share screenshots with them... But Skyrim is a PAIN ABOUT IT.

Whenever I press Printscreen in Skyrim, it DOESN'T PRINT THE SCREEN. Instead, I have to jump through several hoops with Steam's Screenshot system...
And I'll be blunt? It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ABHORRENT. It takes SO MANY DAMNED STEPS to do something that should be ONE BUTTON PRESS, NOT SEVEN!

So is there a way to MAKE Skyrim accept my printscreens? File configurations, option digging, ♥♥♥♥ I'll even take MODDING! I just want to enjoy this game again and share it with my friends!

Can I bind it to Printscreen, or am I forced to have to activate it manually with the mouse?

Are you on Windows? Try the key combo Win + Alt + Printscreen.(Just Win + G should bring up the gamebar.) Or with a controller press the Home button and select the camera icon in the upper left to take a screen shot.

Screenshots taken this way will appear in your Users/Videos/Captures folder.

Same thing as using Steam Screenshot at that point.

Sorry, I guess I misunderstood your post. I thought you trying to take simple screenshots but Steam screenshots wasn't working.

Nonono, Steam Screenshots is just ABSOLUTELY HORRID and takes WAYYYY too many steps to get the same result as just pressing the Printscreen button usually does.

Please explain what you mean by taking too many steps when using the default screenshot - all it takes is pressing one key (usually it is the F12 key) and you have the screenshot - nothing else is required and there are no steps involved, so it is not clear what you mean by "steps" - there are none.

Yeah same thing happened with me. I just take a Steam screenshot, then show that. I can't even snip function in-game either (shift + windows key + s).

I haven't tried it out yet, but would putting it in borderless window fix this problem?

I see people use mods, 3rd party programs and steam functional so much that they forget basic functional of the game itself. :)

Well, I don't. :)

Here is what you need to do.

Go c:\Users\User\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition\Skyrim.ini

Find this:
[Display]
bAllowScreenshot=1
and make sure it is set to 1, not to 0.

Now launch the game and press Print Screen.

Now go here:
c:\...\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\
and there will be your screenshots with filenames:
ScreenShot0.png
ScreenShot1.png
ScreenShot2.png
and so on.

Bingo!

Also when you press Print Screen - there will be a message in the upper left corner of the screen. If there is not - it means you have bAllowScreenshot=0.

If I press printscreen, then I can just paste it in the friend group.

If I use F12, I have to;
1. Find the image (it's not automatically on my clipboard like Printscreen is)
2. Either adjust it in a secondary app to copy it, or drag and drop from it's location (which isn't convenient)
AND THEN
3. I can finally post it.

I'd rather somehow hack printscreen into working than deal with the asinine F12 system, thanks.

This had me hopeful, but then;

That's just the same as pressing F12; too many damned steps instead of just being able to press printscreen and have it be on my clipboard.

ShareX can use PrtScr, or if you use multiple monitors, Alt-PrtScr to capture only the "current" monitor.

Drag and drop isn't convenient?
Be glad you weren't using programms in the eighties..... then you would understand what inconvenient is.

Sorry but I'm not finding any sympathy for you, not even finding empathy.
this is not a huge inconvenience.

why do you feel the need to defend substandard functionality?
