Recommended Character Appearance Mods?

Does anyone have any good recommendations for mods that make most npc's and the player models better? I know that Ethereal Elven Overhaul was one such mod specifically for elves except that was removed from Nexus. However I'm interested in mods that don't only change elves but other races.

What are your favorite mods for improving any characters appearance? Thanks in advance.

Flawn's vanilla Argonians (changes body texture for argonians), High-poly head, KS Hairdos, CBBE (changes the body mesh and texture for female Humans and Elves), HIMBO (changes body mesh and texture for male Humans and Elves).

For female is cbbe 3ba with a good cbbe skin. Racemenu with high poly head mod. Face expressions, female... I forgotten its name. Ofc overlays and hair mods.

A good skin mod will immediately improve player and NPCs,

Beyond that I like Northbourne NPCs (although there are others) for the general population. The mod author has a mod for each hold

YOu might want to look in the presets section on nexus. There are hundreds of custom designed characters there. Just be sure to check what their requirements are first. High poly head is often a must requirement.

I second the recommendations for CBBE for your females, it’s the most popular mod that replaces the body by far though UNP has its fans too.

Just be aware that unless you get yourself one of those “unique player” mods, ALL females will feature the CBBE body.

Yes, even the 80 year old women who have faces like dried out raisins but from the neck down they’ll be sexy 20-somethings.

There is a mod floating out there though that differentiates between adult females/males and old females/males and gives the old timers old timer bodies/skins but last I looked at it it sounded from the comments like it wasn’t working too great.

Fair Skin is currently the most popular skin mod but I tried it once and it just seems too pristine and stands out WAY too much for my liking. I use Bijin skin and it’s served me well.

KS Hairdos adds hundreds of hairs so you can’t go wrong with that, but there’s a massive difference in the amount of female hairs and male hairs. If your PC can handle it, I’d also recommend grabbing the HDT SMP versions which adds a solid amount of KS Hairs that feature physics (note: KS Hairs will not be automatically distributed to NPCs, you’ll need to find a mod that does it or an NPC mod that uses them).

Eyes of Beauty is the most popular eye color mod out there and for good reason, can’t go wrong with plenty of different eye colors/styles that look great.

The Community Overlays series adds about 100 or so high quality and mostly lore friendly body and face tattoos, as well as some new scars, makeup, and physical features like freckles, stretch marks, birth marks, etc.

As for NPCs…there’s the pandorable, dibellas blessing, northbourne, Bijinn, and modpocalyspe series amongst others and individual ones.

You’ll have to look at them to see which fits your preferences becasue you’ll have everything from slight upgrades to NPCs’ vanilla looks to realistic but altered/better to others that change NPCs into entirely new versions/looks and ones that make everyone in Skyrim a fashion/porn model.

Personally I use a mix of Bijinn and pandorable right now with some individual replacers for Lydia, Delphine, Jordis, and Mjoll.

Finally, there’s the High Poly mods. They use a mod called High Poly Head that isn’t on nexus (and the off-site website that hosted it that many mod makers link to is no longer available) and you’ll have to Google it to find a place to download it. It increases the poly count of faces/heads to make them more realistic and less angular and sharp.

Take note though that using HPH doesn’t just magically apply high poly faces/heads to the player character and NPCs. You’ll have to search nexus for HPH character presets and NPC replacers to actually see them in game. It won’t mess up any non HPH characters though, they’ll just have their vanilla/nonHPH modded appearances.

Thanks for the responses. I've started looking at several of these options and haven't made up my mind yet. High Poly Heads seems to be a bit hidden due to the website changing it's links.

I plan on using RaceMenu as well for player customization. Thanks.

Female Face (pick one or overwrite something you only need)
- Bijin
the best realistic face but its too realistic + good without enb

- Pure Skin
second best, because it's like anime looking without look like an anime and this is what I'm currently use + average looking without enb

- Demonic
its good but not that good sometimes your face its like too much makeup for me + ehhh looking without enb but body is good i think this is most likely body mods idk

- Botox
makeup but it's so good for vanilla, the face is actually like vanilla npc but slightly better + good without enb

body
- 3BA

hair
- KShairdos(?)

for NPC
- bunch of mods from bijin (bijin npc, warmaidens, etc) or all in one
- botox (for non-unique npcs)

for male
- just put beard and your character is the most gigachad man in skyrim + KSHairdos(?)

Not all holds. I haven't seen mods for The Pale, The Reach and Eastmarch.
