Fishing Job Failure
The NPC I'm supposed to steal something from is the guy at the alchemist shop in Windhelm. But problem is, he cannot be pickpocketed or even spoken to, because I get a po-up window saying he's asleep and dying. I've tried to use disable then enable commands as well as resetai, but he can only be spoken to not pickpocketed. I tried UESP's advice of using showinventory and then using the command to drop whatever items; however, I can't find the item I need to beat the quest.

Known issue:

If you get a fishing job from the Thieves Guild intending for you to pickpocket Nurelion and you have completed The White Phial quest, the job will become impossible, as only the "asleep and dying" message will appear. Solutions to this are either to quit the job or complete it using the console.

This issue has been addressed by version 1.3.3 of the Unofficial Skyrim Patch; now Nurelion is prevented from getting selected as a target after completion of the White Phial.

The following console command should advance the quest and make it think you have taken the item:

setstage TGRGF 50

Progress the main story so you have access to the peak of high hrothgar. Shortly after the courier should bring you a message from that dudes apprentice regarding a way to heal the dude. Once that is done you can pick his pocket again.
Or just abandon the quest and grab a new one.

He dies at the end of that quest, which according to the wiki counts as you killing him, causing you to fail any Thieves Guild quest you have targeting him or the shop.

If you are on an assignment for the Thieves Guild involving The White Phial (the shop), complete it and turn it in prior to completing this quest. Nurelion's passing at the end of the quest, though not caused by you, will still trigger you to fail the job for "killing".

Too late, I already did the errand quest. Yeah I decided to just call it quits and fail it lol.

And of course the game makes me have to pickpocket ANOTHER character which it's pretty much impossible. This time it's some writer in the inn/bar at Windhelm, and he literally stays there 24/7.
