Cheese wheels recipes
I noticed on previous characters I could create eidar cheese wheels at a cooking station with proper mats but on this character it isn't available. Is this something I need to find or just another bug?
I also can't buy any spell books over apprentice even though I meet the requirements so maybe this characters just a wash...

You should see the recipe if you go to a cooking spit. Even if you lack the ingredients, it'll be there, grayed out. Maybe you're looking at a camp fire from the camping creation? That only lets you cook a much more limited subset of recipes.

To buy adept level spells, you need to be level 40+ in that school of magic and talking to one of the few merchants who sells the higher level spells from that school. Each of the court mages has a specialization, but they don't sell expert or master level spells, and none of them do restoration. For those you need to go to the College.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond but I've tried using the kitchen at my house as well as plenty of others around whiterun.
As far as the skill books go like I said I meet all the requirements but calcelmo won't sell anything over apprentice. I had to go to the college to get adept spells.
The amount of bugs in this game almost make it not worth playing sometimes...

That's really too bad no one knows a fix for this. After so many unfinished characters I finally find one I want to complete the game with & of course it just has to get all bugged out!
Just in case a kind soul that wants to help stumbles over this post I don't have any mods installed. I tried installing a crafting mod after this bug had already happened to see if it would fix the issue but unfortunately no luck.

In the base game, in the past, you could not create these cheese wheels or wedges, and never could - that is a mod added feature (for example, Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul - CACO - adds that ability). Unless that has been changed in the update to 1.6.353, you still cannot.

Nope it's in the game now, not just a mod. If you're not sure you can try to Google it or play the game & see for yourself before replying to a help topic. Not to be rude but that's how so much misinformaroom gets spread around & no one can get a straight answer.

Actually, if you open the game in xEdit, you will see there are no recipes for it in Skyrim.esm, Update.esm, Dawnguard.esm, Hearthfire.esm, or Dragonborn.esm - unless, as I said, it has been changed in the update to 1.6+ with one of the added CC content adding a recipe - in which case you should list which of the new content adds it - Saints and Seducers, Rare Curios, Fishing, or Survival. And if it added in the AE DLC then you should say so and indicate which of the CC content does add it - in which case it still is not part of the base game.

I know I probably don't have your experience in helping and replying to questions, as I only have slightly over 30,000 posts in the Skyrim forums (90% of which are help posts) and have only 3 topics pinned (2 here and 1 in Oldrim) and thousands of hours of game play, but some day, some day...

In fact, by checking in xEdit, if it has been added to the base game, or if you are using some content that adds it, you should be able to see if there is anything overwriting the record, and fix it. Or, if not, you can always make a mod for it yourself by just adding the necessary records in a new plugin - a fairly simple thing to do.

It definatley is not in the base game. I have Special Edition and have never seen a recipe to make cheese wheels. It is most definately a mod. Perhaps one of the Creation Club mods if you have Anniversary Edition.

Yeah, Willow, that was the only likely thing that I could see - and would account for the confusion - but nowhere in the uespwiki (which I checked first just it case it was a CC addition) does it state that they are craftable, which it would if it was added by one of the CC content (though the wiki is far from perfect). But, what do we know?:steamhappy:

Did you try to buy spellbooks from the merchants in the academy? The skill which is related to the skill book needs to be above 50 for better books and they're only available from the mages in winterhold afaik.

Pretty sure that Eidar Cheesewheels can be crafted in the Anniversary Edition (at least I can and the only mods which I have installed are graphic mods) but it's much easier to just steal them from the east empire company warehouse which you can do every 10 days.

Its not easy being cheesy ...

The creation club item that adds it into the game is free & preinstalled so you're just spliting hairs for no good reason. Its in the game no matter what & you can get achievements so call it what you want. I really don't care about semantic arguments & I'm sry if I insulted you but it's difficult to get an answer for anything because everyone's more concerned with drama that helping other people.
Point in case: I couldn't get any real answers & barely anyone cared but as soon a you all could get up in some drama this post lit up like a xmas tree.

I mentioned this a couple posts down from my top post but I should have included it in my op. I can't get them from Calcemo or the whiterun court wizard but luckily I was able to buy them from the college trainers. Its funny how I can like & hate a game so much at the same time (:

My AE definitely does have the Cheese Wheel recipe.

I think it appeared after I turned on Survival Mode but I could be wrong (never bothered much with cooking before, might have just missed it).

The only non-AE mods I have is the unofficial patch and Better Carriages.

Rereading this topic, I had just assumed OP was referring to Elsweyr Fondue and didn't say it. Elsweyr Fondue is crafted with Eidar Cheese Wheels. It's notable for being the only food item with a regenerate magicka effect. But the Eidar Cheese Wheels themselves were never craftable in any version of the game.

Farengar should sell you adept level destruction spells after reaching destruction 40. But I don't know if it would immediately appear in their inventory or if you'd have to wait a couple game days for their shop inventories to reset. Wuunferth and Madena (in Dawnstar) also sell adept destruction spells. Calcelmo sells adept level conjuration spells.

The big question here then is whether cheese wheels are better than regular wheels, in which case Better Carriages may have pulled a fast one on you!
