Changing Multiple Entries In SSE Edit
I have a mod that adds earrings to the game. Thing is, they're classified as clothing and have no armour. The earrings have about 100 entries all the same type, just different enchantments and their materials (Gold/Silver/Ancient). I want to change the entries from "Clothing" to "Armour" and add an Armour Value to all of them. But I don't want to go in and change each entry. Is there a way to batch select those changes for multiple versions of the same item?

I think that would require a script. There are quiet a few xEdit scripts doing this kind of thing, but I have no experience making them. I have a lot of experience doing this kind of tedious changes manually though... :/

Ok, thank you. For now, I guess I will just change the ones I'm presently using.

You can use filters to make it more convenient. In this case the filter on the data panel may be enough, but you can also filter the plugins themselves to show only those containing what you want to modify.

It does require a script - the issue is that it will change all instances, (unless you add additional conditions for the variables that you wish - but that risks making the script much more complicated - and you would still have to check to ensure that it did not change something that you did not want changed. So, the options are a script that changes every instance, or to go through things manually, I have made and used scripts that will change every instant, but, when it comes to wanting to change some and not others, it's the old manual review process.

Frankly, you are better off just going through each specific record, if you only are going to do it one time for everything (and then save the edited .esp so that you do not need to go back and edit them again for a new game).

Thanks Steve. I decided the same thing. And as I acquire any of the many enchanted versions of the Earrings, and decide to use them, I can just edit the item in SSE Edit. For the most part, there are about 30 of each that are Enchanted versions, but that are also part of the random loot. Or, I can just enchant them myself. Which is the way I will likely go.
