What? M1 is the left mouse button, M2 is the right.

as voehringer_nitron says, it stands for your mouse buttons. But any button/key assignments can be changed in the game.

Yeah, you can remap the keys/mouse if you want. I had MAC PC before and it's mouse had a rocker switch for M1 and M2. It could only rock back and forth between M1 and M2 and could not do both at one time. Something like bashing with the shield was impossible that way since it takes M1 to raise the shield and while holding M1 you use M2 to bash with it. I remapped the M2 bashing to the G key on the keyboard to "fix" this.
